***OKIES in the BYC III ***

I think your butterfly is a Question Mark, so named for the white question mark that appears on the undersides of its wing. That shows clearly in your pics. Search for Question Mark Butterfly. Look several lines down at the one that shows multiple photos. There is some variance of coloring, but the question mark is the identifier.

My five brothers and I spent a lot of time catching butterflies for our collections (I now cringe at the poor things we killed), and I was in 4-H Entomology for awhile--this in Oregon. My eldest brother still has a large, beautiful display of butterflies on one wall in Texas. I've always planted extensively for butterflies wherever I've lived. Have noticed more butterflies than usual recently. There are seveal beautiful sites for butterfly lovers in the internet, and one I ran across a couple of years ago even gave careful instructions for making an artificial wing to save an injured butterfly's life until it could complete its life cycle by laying eggs! Quite amazing, really.

Hi Greybear,
Jack was glad to hear that you got a good hatch from his guinea eggs from POOPS. Last week I went out to the pasture where they like to nest. It has alot of praire grass that Jack can't get his scooter thru. I found 81 eggs in two nests! and four days later found 15 more!
I like helping Jack alot. I learn alot and it is like I have LF chickens and guinea too without having to pay for their feed.
I remembered your reminder about Heat Stroke today. I was outside working on coops untill 2:00. I was in the shade and drinking alot of water but got pretty hot and tired. So I quit and went inside. The carpet shampooer was waiting but I rested instead. Still have one room to do before MIL comes Saturday. Much rather be outside in the heat playing with chickens than cleaning house.
I also remembered Nankat's description of hosing down the coop floors and ect. and have been spraying the ground and cement around my pens and also wetting the shadecloth over them. Birds seem to really like it.
