How much longer do you have to be on this rotation schedule before you can stay at home for two weeks in a row?

i think next week but I get to go have a wisdom tooth removed!

Morning Okie's!!

Teach sorry about the tooth, hope you feel better. NO rain here either & I forgot & left the water on for two hours watering nothing!

We hardly have any wind this morning. It's pleasant. All the birds are enjoying a break from the heat.

I know some of you keep goats. I'm starting to plan a small herd, and I'd like everyone's opinion on what breed is best. I want one or two for milk, and the rest will be meat animals. I'm really intrigued by the La Mancha. Any thoughts?

Good morning all.

I read the back posts to keep up. So sorry about the losses this week.

Hope the cool front we're having now stays around awhile. 92 degrees is a cool front during Oklahoma summer, right?

Last night I thought my white Polish disappeared. She's the sidekick of the white Plymouth rock and hardly ever leaves her side, but at bedtime she was nowhere to be found. I looked everywhere I could but just didn't find her, then this morning she was back with her buddy. I have no idea where she slept last night, but she's going to be put in time out if she does that again.

Loving the cool mornings we've had the past few days! Sitting out on the back patio watching the girls do their things is a nice way to start the day off.

Going to get some overdue shopping done today then do some baking and freezing. I've developed a great Southwestern egg roll recipe so I'm going to make a big batch and freeze them for later. Need to pick up some more feed for the teenagers and will try to find some reasonably priced shade cloth while I'm out.

Hope everyone has a good, productive day today. Catch y'all later.

No goat help here, but your question reminded me of a dream I had the other night. I had sent my daughter out to get chicken feed and she came home toting several more chickens and two pygmy goats! I have no idea why I would have dreamed about that unless I have a subconscious wish for pygmy goats. It made me laugh that my dreams are becoming as much about animals as people these days.

I have always liked Nubians for milk. Have had several nice ones thru the years. They are a large goat, if bred to a nice Boer or other meat type goat, they will provide lots of milk, and a nice size butcher cross goat.

I wish I could get goats! I will be interested in hearing about them. I also need to find someone with goats milk to see if I like it......

Raw goat milk tastes the same as raw cow milk. We're so used to processed, pasteurized, chalk water that we don't know what we're missing. I will probably get a pasteurizer so I can sell milk when we have extra. I think we can't sell raw goat milk in Oklahoma. I'll have to do more research. Raw is better. People at swaps keep asking me for goat milk. I like the idea of getting a milker to cross with a meat goat for offspring to butcher for meat. That's a wonderful way to keep the does in milk and have some meat for the freezer. Our kids think La Mancha would be cool to raise. Our kids are adults... they wouldn't do the raising, just the bragging when they show pictures to their city friends

I understand that La Mancha are docile. I want our grand babies to be able to spend time around the does and have a positive, friendly experience.
