***OKIES in the BYC III ***

i am waiting to see, did you plan on going? if Old Cowboy is going I will likely show up to bring him the sebright hens and can deliver 3 OE hens and two cokrells for you as well.
Otherwise I will wait for Cement. It is hard to justify the drive when fuel is so much anymore, but to get to see Doc and family and teh Okie family we have come to miss lately that alone would make the drive to cement worth it.

well, my garden is pretty much done in. The grasshoppers have eaten most of my bean plants. Couldn't keep the pea's very long since it got so hot so fast. Beets didn't grow to great either in this heat. At least I got one meal out of them though! My cucumbers and squash are still going good. I'm have to flood it two/three times a day to keep it going! Going to try some lettace again when it cools down. I planted it in April, but again the heat was too much too soon for it! >.<
Last time I had a garden, I lived in Washington...this is a very different experience! Next year is going to be soooo much better

At least my chickies are happy with the two grass patches i've kept watered for them and all the hoppers i cought out of the garden for them! The rest of the yard is dead, no way could we be able to afford to keep it all watered enough!
hey, at least the skeeters aren't as bad since it's so dry!! Sure would put up with them for some rain though!!

OK, simplicity is not real easy for me but I am going to try.
1 kw is 1000 watts. 1 Kwh is 1kw used or produced for 1 hour.
a 3.5 kw generator has the capacity at optimum output to produce 3.5 Kwh per clock hour. So this would be 84 Kwh / day 2352 kwh / 4 week period
You are best to expect a 40% production based on wind speeds changing, so this is 33.6 kwh / day or 940.8 / 4 week period.

You can look at your electric bill it tells you Kwh usage and cost.

When you produce more power than you are using it spins the meter backward (based on utility company)

You can impliment batteries for storage but that gets very expensive quickly.

These units are designed to be suplemental not 100% of required power. For an example a total electric Central heat and air unit may have up to 30KW heat strips with an additional 3 kw draw to run the motor. If you had lights and TV and other household items running you would need 40-50 kw to run the houses needs. By suplementing the usage and providing the basic functions for the day when you are using 5kw on average the suplemental system produces excess when you are gone, or alseep and many items are not in use giving a usage credit at the meter. The average house uses 2500 KWh a month.
Hope that helps call if you would like to discuss more intensly.

You did a great job & I actually understand it!!!! I will be calling you to talk price later. Thanks!!!

Call when your ready, I am preparing to order some components to make a few more I can show you how to get most of your money back but you will be pleasantly surprised with teh real costs if you ever looked into them.

Saw The Jarvis's craiglist ads with pics of chickens for sale

Are the Columbian Wyandottes the parents of the trio I got form you last month....sure are pretty.

Sorry for all the chicken, garden, and tree losses due to heat and all the grasshoppers. I ended up spraying all my ornamentals with Triazicide by Spectricide. We have blister bugs eatting hostas and daylilies and have grasshoppers eatting the cannas, iris, Rose of Sharon and forsythia bushes. Out in the pastures we noticed the johnson grass was chewed to pieces. The garden has been pretty much bug free....knock on wood...for now...hope we can keep it that way.

40 year high school reunion this weekend. It's the first one I've attended since graduating....loads of folks coming to town for get-togethers tonight and tomorrow evening....will see friends I haven't physically seen in more than 20 years...some have never met my hubby before.

It is still up in the air if I will be there or not. The guy I will come with if I get to come called and said he does not know if he will get off in time or not. So may be or may not be there. DO NOT bring seabrights on my acount. I would hate for you to haul them there and I not make it. Thanks anyway. Guy

Guy,
I'm not going or taking anything if you are not going to make it, Just call and let me know. 405-878-6381 Carl.

Nanacat,
The Breeder pair or Columbians we have up for sale the Rooster is definetly the father of your chicks and the hen there is a 1 in 4 chance. They are very good breeders the hens is laying quite well. We also have a young pair a little older than the ones you got as well as several more young ones already outside and in the brooders. We will be picking another 4-6 pullets to retain for next year the rest will be finding new homes.
the Blue Cochins are the breeders so we will not have any new cochin chicks until next year after they sell.
I think I failed to list teh Bantam Blue Wyandottes but they need to go somewhere too.

Monty~ he is a EE roo that I got when I ordered straight run EE from MM in february. He is so pretty I can't get rid of him even though I don't need him.

Even as a 2 day old chick when I would stick my hand in the brooder he would run and make a noise that sounded like a scream...hence the name Screamin Demon. He still makes that sound when startled.

It is not a recognized color. There is s genetic term that is used but I can't remember it. I have an EE roo that is almost the same color but with les red and little more blue.
It is definitely not MIlle Fluer, Tolbunt or a recognized spangle.
Just call him pretty and you will have it covered.
