Where is the rain?
If a tornado was in Moore I would be heading for cover since we would be next in line but a nice summer rain? No it goes around us!
Glad for thoise that got rain.
I guess I'll settle for cooler temps.

DD has been hatching guineas each wk. Told her she can keep the $$$ if she buys the feed. She has 25 right now. Another 50 or so hatching through the next month. So the question is does she take them to auction this weekend? Figure she would be lucky if she could get $2 a bird--- figure it will prob be less. Or does she feed them for 2 months & sell in the fall? Figure might be $15 more in feed & 15 more minutes in chores each day.

Last sale at Blanchard, there were only 11 young guineas there. My friend ended up with them. He gave either 3.50 or 4 apiece for them. Sale before that there were lots of young guineas and it was a buyers market. How they do this weekend would probable be determined by supply and demand. I know there were some at blanchard that came only to buy guineas and very few sold.

Guess we can bring them it won't hurt. If she isn't happy with what they sell for then she can hold on to her next few hatches. We only plan on taking pearl, lavender & pied. All the other colors get to grow out here in hopes of starting a new flock for next year. We are going to need one of those divided wire cages for transporting little chicks--Since my DD is a hatching addict. does someone locally sell them or should I get DH to put his DIY skills to use.

Junebug - Glad you're getting some rain. Monty -
surely you'll get some in a little bit. Hope it makes
for more than steam.

Is 105o here in Tahlequah today. Bill and TJ have
headed for the creek. They are figuring, without
any rain, this is going to be about the end of
the swimming hole....is beginning to get green
and slick on the bottom.

Lost our first bird to the heat today...a cornish
bantam. And, egg production has come to a
screeching halt. Yuck...gonna have to buy
some of those cardboard tasting things they
sell in town.

They're saying we have a chance of showers
up in this area later tonight. Got our fingers
crossed.

Have a good (cool) one !

Glad some got a bit of rain, Sure could have used some of that rain here but it went around again like it's done for the last dozen times it's rained close by,
A couple weeks ago it rained a few drops and less than two miles west it poured enough to wash mud onto the pavement, today it didn't even cool the temp any here.

I lost a rabbit yesterday that make 5 counting the 4 babies I lost and 7 chickens.

I had a good laugh at the hens and roo I got from Deanne last night, When I got home from work they were out of the pen and having a blast in some leaves so I let some others out to join them and right before dark, the rest went to roost in the coop and the new birds made it to the top of the coop instead of going in and then went up into the trees to spend the night, I need to make more pens under the trees like that one they stay a lot cooler than the chickens in the big pen that only has shade that I put up no trees close enough to it. Hope every one else is fairing well in the heat.

And a Big Happy Birthday Sooner!! I would sing for ya but you probably wouldn't hear it from there and it might spook the chickens LOL
