Hi Joe - Your New Hampshire Reds look really, really nice. Do you think you'll have chicks from them next spring? I have a good NH rooster, but I only have two hens I'd put in a breeding pen. The rest lay nice eggs, but they aren't lookers, so they won't be breeders. I picked up some shade cloth after seeing how you used it on your pens. It's made a big difference on the pens that are on the west side of the barn because they get most of the afternoon sun.

The light, splits, and coros are doing great. One little coronation pullet still won't use the roost, but the rest have figured it out and are up and settled on the roost before it gets dark. The split cockerel caught a lizard today. I thought a monster must be in the pen when I heard the noise, but it was just the cockerel bossing everyone to stay back. He spent so much time making noise that most of the lizard was stolen from him.

I love your descriptions! Those cockerals are so funny! By the way, that EE is a cockeral and a beauty! So far no real problems in the pen with Galahad, but he sure avoids him like the plague!

Very pretty birds Joe. The hens are stunning and the roo very handsome!!

How big do the Yokahamo's get? That rooster is really striking...love the second photo where the irridescent green shows.

Went to the Harrah poultry auction this evening. Got to visit with Monty, which almost made the heat bearable. Although there were a lot of fans, it was hot both inside and outside. There were some rabbits that went really cheap and I bought 5 of them. One died while I was in the line to pay out. The remaining 4 seem to be doing well. I did stop at Sonic and got a bag of ice to put on top of the cages on the way home.

Joe, your Yokahama are pretty, pretty! I love their tails.
That other picture.....? The naked chicken? lol That's actually a real chicken? You know, I never even realized their wings were so stubby without all those feathers. No, I've never had buffalo wings :)
If it's real, what happened to its feathers?
