Thank you! It sounds like a lot of fun and a rare chance (for me) to see some of these different chickens 1st hand.

You're welcome. I'm sure you'll see lots of chicken-happy Okies at the swap in September. Introduce yourself when you see me. I love to meet BYC folks!!!!!

Poco Pollo~ you don't happen to have any BR chicks for sale right now do you? My broody was on 18 eggs. Only 4 hatched and something got 2 of those the first night.

Was wanting to give her a few more to raise if I could find any.

Thanks,
Lori

Had my knee replacement surgery Monday and am doing well. Still quite a bit of pain, but can already walk without walker or cane, though only supposed to a little.

Rehab and home health care workers come out several times a week--started this week.

Vashi is doing a great job with the chickens, even gathering chicks that keep hatching in this heat! Have several new showgirls and guineas, as well as a few others.

Looking forward to being able to do the work myself.

It is wonderful that you are doing well. I recall that you tried to schedule your surgery for when it would least inconvenience you and your family. Hopefully, you will feel fully recovered by the time chicken shows begin in the Fall.

We came back from Dallas a day early since DH got 2 new puppies for DD--- they are Pyrenees / Anatolian mix. Now the girls are fighting since why does sissy get 2 new puppies. Why can't I have 1? I am staying out of it, since I didnt bring home the puppies! Dad can sort out the fussing between those 2. It is hard adjusting to our faithful pyrenees being gone. However 2 new puppies should keep us busy. Tomorrow I will be out in the yard trying to pick up anything I that they might mistake for a chew toy

Only dropped by the cement auction for an hour. DD was thrilled to get a good price for her keets. Was tempted by some of those ducks, but not ready for ducks & 2 puppies in the same time. That incubator was a tempting bid..... But seriously how many incubators does a girl need????

Hope everyone else had a great time--- we only left early because we were exhausted from six flags.

Betsy take it easy on the new knee, it is frustrating to go slow but worth it--- DH has a hard time slowing down & he is getting to go back in for the same acl & meniscus knee surgery he had last yr since it didn't heal right. Best wishes for quick healing!

I do have some cross chicks, but they are fully feathered and highly independent. I doubt they'd listen to a broody. I've also got two barred rock pullets not yet sold. They are 10 weeks old, very curious, and should turn out to be really good layers. Momma is, anyway.

Here are a few snaps of the cross grow-out pen so you can get an idea of how big the chicks are.
