Here's a hay list compiled by the Oklahoma Department of Agrigulture. I think it's updated weekly, this is a new listing today, and it's great that they list by county and show contact info.

We sure need to buy hay for 70 plus goats. Nothing green growing around our house but the sand burrs ... Except for our plasticulture garden is doing ok, as long as we remember to turn the drip irrigation on when the plants become dry.

I highly recommend the plasticulture program for gardening http://www.ok.gov/~okag/mktdev-plast.htm

Michael, I'm sorry about your friend. Sometimes we get so caught up in ourselves that we forget to be thankful for the things in life that really matter. Like being able to wake up.
I hope it was peaceful for him.

I feel your serger pain, hate using mine too, actually haven't used it in YEARS just use the tight zig zag on my sewing machine if I need it.

How much oats are you feeding your chickens, that question is to everyone feeding fermented oats. Are you feeding as treat / supplement or main food.

No real exact measurement. I take them a tray of oats in the am & a tray in the afternoon. They gooble it all up, none leftover for later. They still have their food out if they want it. I have about 35 grown birds & 35 in the grow out pen. I am using a 3 gal bucket a day. The guineas don't like them, but everyone else does. However, DH said he thinks chickens are like goats just have smaller mouths. They will eat anything!

I know mine will, I marvel at the posts on here about their picky eating chickens, mine will eat anything that doesn't eat them first!!!!! They also love the oats.

Gee Michael sorry to hear about the loss of your chicken friend. Hate loosing a good bird person. How old was he?

Wow Ocarla ,you have 70 goats! I thought you were just "getting" into them!lol Are they all fainters?

Quote:
Yep, all fainters. Well we bought 3 last year ... then a few more here & there ... then we more than doubled the population this spring with all the new kids ... and now they're having kids again ....

I guess we need to plant some more veggies then

Gerald and I get out and plant many times after dark with headlamps, since it's too hot during the day. We don't seem to wake the chickens when we're out late, but that silly 'ol peacock thinks it's a great time to scream "HELP" ... "HELP" ... "HELP". I'm susprised our neighbors haven't called the cops on us.
