Looks like she's a pretty good protector of the chickens, too. She has that maternal look about her.

I SO do not feel sorry for them! I can work 2 hrs outside and I'm completely shot the rest of the day.

Evening Okies! It was another hot one here today to. Kass, you are right,I have been watching the network news and it wasn't so bad till it hit New York now its devestating! I am racking my brain trying to figure out who to contact to get the plight of the hayless farmers some help. We are loaded with hay in this area this year and I'm sure there are other staets as well. If Okla and Texas were a third world country we would be shipping boat loads to you! It just seems there should be a way to help the farmers out.
Any way had another bad day,got my truck out of the shop yeaterday ,less $1800 for a transmission and on the way to the sale the water pump starts leaking and it overheats. Was almost to the sale so went ahead and then limped it home.Adding coolant every little bit. But I'm glad it happened today because tomorrow we were planning on taking it to Little Rock to meet SIL and pickup MIL. MIl is comming for an unstated lenght visit so SIL can move her in with her while she is here. The Alzhiemers is advancing progessively. So the rest of the summer will be fun for me as I will be the baby sitter! Did I say she is a cranky, diffi cult, spoiled child acting individual! I should have !lol.
On the only bright side I picked up two more muscovey hens and thre baby g.pigs and a doe rabbiy. One of the muscovys is a young hen which made me ponder, are young hen ducks and males called pullets and cockrells or do they have another name? Anyone know?

Thanks Joe,maybe next time.I'm in no big hurry.

It is obvious that this is not a first or second year garden. Your hard work certainly shows.

Hi Everyone!

Had a wonderful evening at Blanchard auction. Got a barrel and some favorelle chicks but enjoyed spending time with friends. Michael pointed out I have not been on the board in a while, so I will try to remedy that. Life has been kinda hectic lately but will hopefully start slowing down until school starts. Than things will get crazy again for a while.

Sounds like I am not the only one hurting for rain. Been setting a sprinkler hose out everyday for all the birds but still lost 3 of my best ameraucana hens, which I am just sick over, but there was nothing I could do. Am going to have to go get a bale of hay for the llamas since they have pretty much foraged the place down to nothing. The thought of the temps being down in the 90's sounds wonderful and dream like all at the same time. Feels like it is going to be hot forever, even though I know in 6 months we are going to be praying for heat. Feast or famine always in Oklahoma.

Well hope everyone is having a good weekend!

We got some much needed rain, and strong winds. Got out in the rain and set chicken houses back up from the wind. Felt real good soaking wet from the rain. Just need more, but will take it as it comes. Shot a coyote in the back yard from the back door of the house this evening. Them chickens killing sobs better come up with a better game plan. tyhey are on my list. Guy

If you Google the name and brand of your phone, you may be able to find a charger for less than $10, from an online seller. Dean has a really old phone - which he likes because he doesn't text or want to surf the web and he has had this phone long enough he understands it.

Anyway, when his battery stopped holding a charge in January, I was able to find a new battery online and when his wall charger came apart, I found him a charger from an online seller. He is happy and the grandkids don't have to teach him how to use a new phone. Also, if you are looking for a car charger, Radio Shack carries one that has interchangeable phone plug sizes. Those are handy since you can just buy a different phone plug to fit any phone, without paying $30 for a charger everytime you switch phones. (of course, the newer phones seem to have settled on one type of plug in so you don't have to keep buying new car chargers anyway.)

Yes, I raise Welsummers. I just love those beautiful birds. Those are what I have the most of. I have a few EE. The welsummers have the greatest personalities I think. I just finished two incubators this past couple of weeks, the hatch rate was not what I expected, I think this extreme exteded heat has something to do with it though.

Love those Shomo pics. Very interesting looking birds.

Don't know if anyone is interested in the Sulpher (sp) Oklahoma dog trade. It is on sunday morning, starts at daylight, cost you $3.00 to get in and park. I do not remember what it cost for a space to sell. It is more like a giant outdoor flea market, trade, barter. There are always a lot of different animals and things there. Need to get there early if you want a place to park. It is on the same highway as the deaf school is, and for the life of me I can not remember what the highway number is, should be able to google the school to get the highway number though. Word for the wise, take some tissue, or paper towels in your pocket if you think you might need to use their "facilities" while you are there.
