***OKIES in the BYC III ***

old*cowboy :

Monty, the chickens that died this week, they werent your sons games were they?

Well, not the ones this week. he lost a a Sweater rooster last week but I don't think it was from the heat. The ones that died this week were laying hens and some Welsummer juvies and a mixed roo.

Recluse bites really do rot flesh, and can so a lot of damage, even death if the victim is small enough, the bite is in a sensitive place and venom is carried to vital areas, or a person has a sensitivity to the venom.

So far saddly no, hyper and not able to think clear so far.

LOL Cowboy I hear what you are saying! At least you have a good sense of humor about it.

Kass hope you don't work tomorrow!

Monty what do you think happened if it wasn't the heat?

I am noticing that the one's that are lower in the pecking order need extra care in this heat. I make sure to have extra water bowls spread out & I have also taken to putting feed in seveal places (more tahn normal)

Sooner I am not sure. He couldn't control his legs. He would eat and drink at first and he looked alert but he couldn't walk. At first I thought it might be botulism so I brought him inside and gave him yogurt and garlic and boiled eggs. (not all together) plus some laying pellets. He just kept getting weaker. He was alert and his eyes looked good the night before he died. Jared paid 50 bucks for him, so it wasa big loss for our low budget chicken operation.

The doc didn't seem to think that I would lose enough tissue to reach the weight loss goal he has set for me.
