Oh by no means do you have to ever refer to me as doubleostud. I have had the same email address since I was 13. Now its just easy to remember for me. Nope all I raise now is fainters. I've raised about them all though from meat to dairy to whatever you want to consider pygmy.

So are you saying pygmy make a good milker

Thanks Carla. I am going to get the needed ingredients and set some grasshopper bait. Figure I will start in the orchard, that I planted this yr. The birds don't go on the far side of my property so it is a good place to test it out. I was just searching last night for some ways to eliminate the hoppers! I figure if I don't get them knocked down to something manageable I will never have a successful garden out here.

Do you think Guineas are sorta like cats. If you want the cat to hunt mice more hold back a little feed. Recon if you cut the guineas back they would work harder on the hoppers.

I think I heard in a movie once that you can pretty much milk anything with teets, but I think pygmys are not really in the dairy catagory and they are too small for the meat catagory, in my opinion. I think they do fit well in the yard ornament catagory.

Yard ornaments I got, I thought I would try to find 1 to 3 nubian doelings or other nice milk breed. Would even consider milk breed cross with another milk breed. Found several Boer x milk breed, but trying to stay away from any meat goat influence for milk production. I think the meat goat cross would have too small of bag and teet. My wife has large hands, If I get her convinced some day she should do the milking, I want her to be atleast comfortable doing it.

I'll get with a friend of mine he has dairy goats I'll see what he recommends and if he has any for sale. Good luck with the milking. I'm just not motivated enough to do all the work. I did that as a kid for years. I'm done now that I set my own chores.

I would like to make the soap though. If the fainters had bigger bags they woulkd be perfect because you could just scare them and then milk them while they where down. Wouldn't even need a stant or a halter.
