***OKIES in the BYC III ***

No wind or rain here; just heat. Anyone looking for Toppy X Penny Hatch pullets or cockerels? I put some eggs in the incubator before DH decided that games didn't fit my business plan as far as chickens go. I'll take some pictures tomorrow morning. I though I might be able to convince DH that the pullets could become good broodies, but that's not the way it worked out. The pullets look a lot like their momma. I have to sell as many as I can on Saturday because I need the tractor they are in for some other birds. If you're interested, send me a PM. I'll be taking them to the flea market on Admiral, but I can put as many aside as folks want if you let me know.

DH just said we're under a thunder storm watch. Maybe we'll get some rain tonight. We sure need it.

Hi Everyone!

Well I have spent all day but finally got my water heater rebuilt. Had a leak in the intake hose which leaked down and fried out the heating element switches and probably the heating elements. So I replace the hose adding a shut-out valve, replaced both heating switches and heating elements. Waiting for water to heat up to go take a bath. Cost me about $100 because I kept having to go get supplies, because my plumbing stuff is MIA, but it is sure better then the $450 it would have cost to get a new one.
Must say I am a bit proud of myself for doing this all by my lonesomes. Not that it is really hard to do, it just nice to know I can fix things on my own. Yeah Me!!!!

As for the birds, the turkeys and peahen spent all day coming up on the deck, checking out what I was doing. Nosy busy-bodies but cute none the less.

Hope everyone had a better day.

Well th eleading edge has hit here, trees are bowing over rather serious like, I'm kind of looking forward to calling teh ins. man tomorrow morning for a new roof since they decided to raise my rates by nearly 50% a year. Its time to get some of my money back and find a new ins. company.

just had to go move MJ's girls, their littlel coop wouldn't handle hi winds so they are in a cage in the main banty coop... could hear the thunder, looks like its gonna get us this time- stay sfe everyone!

I'm south of Guthrie and we didn't get a whole lot of anything. It rained a little but that was it. Thank God we didn't get the winds like some of you.
Betsy, that's sooo sad about your birds! It's just heartbreaking to hear about things like that. And the one guy coming home to 49 dead Cochins

I just can't imagine going through something like that.
I've fallen madly in love with my 8 2 1/2 wk old Cochin babies, OMG they adorable! I've got the 16 Silkies from the hatchery but there's something about these gentle sweet Cochins....I've GOT to have more. Mine are Blue, Splash & probably a few whites. Mine are the standard size, do the Cochin bantams act the same way as the standards? What about flying? Can the Bantams get over a 4' fence? I can't imagine loving a breed more than I do my Cochins. I've got others but I pick up one of the Cochins and my heart just turns to mush. They look at me like I'm the god of all Chicken Mamas. Maybe because they were my 1st hatch? I don't know but I'm on the lookout for some Cochin Bantams now. I want to see if I can find that Mille Fleur color. I'll give myself 5 or 6 wks of looking and if I can't find that color I'll look for other colors.
Anyway, just rambling. Here's a picture of one of my Cochin babies. Their feet already look like they're wearing slippers and they're only 2 1/2 wks old, it's hilarious.
