***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Good laughs Elwood...love those stinkeyes!
Congrats GracefulBantams

Loving this cooler weather and the prospects of rain this morning.
Caught a black bird in the cage....go figure.
Going out now to check the birds and look in the barns for building materials. Want to get some tractors made and need to assess what is available and what we need to purchase. Stuff is in several barns and may need to haul some rolls of wire back to the house barn.

Hubby had a doctor visit Wed with the orthopedic...sometime in his past he broke his back...at least a compression fracture to a vertebra. The fall back in January on the ice caused some issues. No surgery in the future yet. ..Trying anti-inflamatory for now. We figure it happened back in 1995 when a bull put him up a fence panel and then hit the panel flipping Roger over onto his back. "Rowdy" was mad at being loaded when we bought him...he was a good bull for us. Took hubby a few months then to feel less pain. Not supposed to lift anything heavy...don't know many men who listen to that advice.....

Morning all,

Bill - love the cartoons! My favorite is the first one, with the sign.

Grace - congratulations on being chosen as a judge! Sounds exciting!

Okla-doodle - sounds like you have your hands full with the beagles. They're usually such great animals. Hopefully with a lot of work and patience they'll turn out that way for you. It's a shame how they got to be the way they are now, though. I commend you for trying to work with them to give them a better life.

NanaKat - men can be stubborn, can't they? Those anti-inflammatory meds may just do the trick. I take one on occasion when the arthritis in my shoulder flares up. Works wonders.

Getting more rain this morning. Yay! Lots of lightening and thunder, but that just means it's time for a nap.

I enjoy the rain and storms, but without the damage, of course. So far no damage here but the wind sure whips those tree branches around. It's surprising that none have broken off yet.

The girls have slowed down their egg laying. There's only been one egg a day to collect for the past few days.

I found a hidden nest in one of the duck pens. It looks like about a handful of straw and a few brown leaves were pressed into a small hole under the deck where the duck pool sits. In the hole I found twelve eggs submerged in six inches of water. Drat! I can't figure out whey they didn't use the clean, dry nesting house they've got. For a week I've been thinking they were on strike.

Elwood - Love the photos. My favorite is the line to use the tree. Too bad my dogs aren't as civilized.

Paid some stupid tax today. We had a lightning strike a few days ago that killed our cell phone booster. So, when the lights in the shop didn't work any more, I called an electrician. I'd flipped all the switches I could find and was sure it was a big repair job. The electrician did all the same things I did. He flipped the breaker switches in the barn. He flipped all the breaker switches in the shop. He flipped the lights on in the shop and, of course, they worked just fine.

Didn't make it past getting the chickens checked and fed...Big long dark bank of clouds moving in from the northwest and beginning to sprinkle.
The temperatures dropped to 71 but it feels cooler. Turned off the swamp cooler in the barn...plenty of cool air and humidity right now. Got one egg today from a hen that hasn't been laying for a while.

The boys aren't back from checking fences in Prague. One of the leases showed no charge on the electric fence so they were looking for the problem...hope they make it back before the lightening starts.

Going to work on a quilt since I can't scout building materials. Check back in later
Have a great day!!

Grace you will have a blast judging. Before long every fair in driving distance will be calling.
Woke up about 5:30 to the sound of good steady rain. Rained until about 8:30. Went out and turned the hens out and the weather was nice and comfortable for a change. The girls flew out of the coop and hit the ground running like they really like the change of temps also.
upcdayz men have to be stuburn, how else would we get our way

Got a call from the state guy that comes and does the NPIP testing. Said he would be to my place one day next week. Be glad to get this done.
Well I hope everyone enjoys the cooler weather today. Guy

Morning Folks!

Well it looks like it is early morning, with lots of thunder and lightning. Sounds like the rain just started as well.

We so need this rain, I was a little worried last night that it did not rain but it seems like it is going to rain "big time" this morning.

Have a joke I got from a farmville friends. What do you call a deer with no eyes? No Idea... What do you call a deer with no eyes and on fire? Still no flaming idea...

I thought is was cute. Better be heading out, going to go take the DD to get stuff she needs for boot camp.

Have a great day everyone and enjoy the cooler temps.

Oh ya, I forgot to brag about my day yesterday. I had a home made dog box that I used to haul coon dogs in during the warm months that someone had gave to me several years ago. A guy called me that knew I no longer hunt and asked if I would sale it. Told him I would probable keep it to put chickens in. He told me he would trade 7 of the wire cattle panels for it he had on his trailor. (pretty sure he got them where he works (oilfield) and probable didnt have much in them) He made him some dog runs already and had these left over. I figure 7 panels were worth a lot more than my dog box for pens so I traded. I went to hook on to his trailor and another guy I know that used to have hounds called me and told me he had a 8x12 chainlink kennel he wanted out of his back yard. Said if I came got it, I could have it. So I took my panels on the borrowed trailor by and picked up my kennel. Had a pretty good day yesterday in the chicken pen getting. The only down side to this is I am thinking about moving back to Arapaho so I can help take care of my parants more. When I get ready to move, all these extra pens may be a headache then. Oh well will worry about that when the time comes. Guy
