***OKIES in the BYC III ***

old*cowboy :

I was thinking the same thing. I have a rooster bigger than the bird in the picture but I have hens that look just like it. My money says hen, but I have heck telling on the NNs sometime.

if it makes you feel better Guy, I thought it was a Pullet, and just figured you were really goin to win unless you were counting it being a rooster. But it reminds me a great deal of a RIR hen / pullet close to point of lay.

No, just wantin a rooster to run loose, but not something that is gonna be pen fighting all day. Sumatras are not supposed to be game or aggressive. And they are reputed to be good free rangers and awesome flyers. Not to mention awesoem lookin birds.

I sure am enjoying the weather change! Tonignt, after work and a little dinner, I was out with my birds till 8:45/dark. Did alot of moving birds in pens and ect. Going to take 4 Mille fleur roos, a pair and trio of partridges (cochins) to the auction. Also parting with one of my two Lavender/Self-blue roos. Having to make a few decisions about what I have room for.

What kind of birds do you have and what kind would you like to acquire?

Jarvis I do want to set some traps for the coyotes, but don't have one big enough. (have several small ones for coons & such) Went looking in chickasha they were sold out. For now coyotes are proving to be good target practice & DH is enjoying the hunt.

The cool weather has been great-- crazy that 90's are considered cool now. I just keeping hoping for some of that rain everyone else is talking about.

Was trying to count tonight. I have lost at least 5 rir pullets this week plus 1 EE. Think they were about 3 mo the old. Might be missing others hard to tell when they keep moving! Of course all the cockerels are still present & accounted for. They might be good trap bait soon. Guess when I find some traps I will have to keep the dogs in @ night so they don't end up trapped
