You have a point there....although, this stuff will last a lil longer than fruit

I don't know my dogs don't eat fruit, and it lasts a long time around here that is until it hits my hand or the kids. But a apple, a pocket knife, and a bird it could take hours letting them nipple a slice while you eat the rest of teh apple.. See its a win win..

Our dog Red will eat whatever fruit you are eatting...loves nectarines.

Mine like anything; scratch, cherry tomatoes, grass, weeds, chopperd up mellon, basil leaves.......
Atwoods sells bags of dried mealworms, a real big hit, but it is $8.00+ a bag!

you are not alone they are insperational and medicinal.. I think I spend more time with the birds than people these days. You know its a real problem when you start clucking to yourself though..

"Cluck, cluck, cluck" - I mean, "Hee, hee, hee."

I give my chickens any left over food. The lady I buy my feed from gets boxes and boxes of old produce and gives it away, so I stock up on that and give them some everyday. They are down right spoiled now. The thing my chickens go absolutely crazy over is fruit newtons. You can get the cheap strawberry kind at DG for like $1.50. My birds would shank you for fruit newtons. Oh and they love watermelon, cantaloupe or pumpkins. I also give my old bread or pasta and they totally love that as well.

reading everyone's posts about what treats they give their birds. We have some spoiled, rotten fowl out there!

Prath003 There will be a lot more activity later in the day. Someone will be able to answer your question.
..there are loads of people here to enable yu in your search for more chickens.

Stephanie and Carl were here today to pluck the vent feathers on the BLRWs. They certainly know a lot and are so nice to share that knowledge. Now I'll know what to do when it's time to vent pluck the Cochins and those BLRWs when it needs to be done again.
Thank you for taking care of the little roo too Carl...his eye was a mess! I like your technique for the shots too. Roger said "What a nice young couple!"

I had mowed the garden and cut hubby's hair before they arrived....they saw the pens before I had cleaned the water and feed stations...I guess it's like dusting in the house...never finished when company comes. It's done now. All that is left is hoisting up the new shade cloth and moving Angel and the little cochin roo out to the pen.

Robin, could it possibly be some sort of irritation from what she's walking on? Or roosting on? Grass awns (sp?) do that to some dogs feet. I would suppose some chickens have more sensitive feet than others.
