Cowboy - the auction lasted until about 9ish and there were more birds than I have ever seen in the couple of times I have been to Newcastle. Don Gibson brought some beautiful birds, that did well. There were more than a dozen cages of geese, ducks or turkeys.

Good to see some regulars back from the sale, man has this been slow! I'm hoping there will be lots of details tomorrow, what great deals did everyone get?? I wish I coulda gone but I'm still in a project process and have sworn not to get any more birds til I'm all done, (or I find something for a great price that I just HAVE to get)

Cuban, if you could get my precious pair to oklahoma I'm sure we could figure a train to get them towards the city, that or I'll be roadtripping

Enjoyed visiting with all the BYC-ers at the auction tonight too. Some of the regular auction goers I saw and/or got to talk to: P&B, mjgigax, MichaelDaugherty, Elwood Lightfoot, OKCarla & Eggman, okieracefan, nocityboy, Al, meusky, modernman - and a few others as well. Sorry if I left anyone out. Got to meet Poco Pollo and dgibson. Lots of nice folks out there.

We stopped for a bite to eat on the way home. Got all the new birds placed in isolation.

Michael - The SL Polish got bathed and dried. A lot of the yellow she had on her feathers washed off in the water! lol She got a rinse with bluing that probably helped with the yellowing some, too. She's as sweet as she can be but not very active though. She stays put where ever I place her. I think I'll name her Velcro.

Got home a while ago took a while to get my new additions all settled in, It had been a little while since I've been able to make an auction and it was nice to see all the BYC're there, and meet some I hadn't met yet, I really like the goats I aquired tonight the Doe I got from Coral won't let the other 2 near the feeder LOL So I put 2 feeders in the pen and she can't defend them both at the same time but she is funny to watch and try too. Right off the bat when I got home I grabbed a flashlight and set about getting the goats into the pen and in the process I spotted and killed 2 possums an adult and a small baby, I saw another on the front porch and it was gone before I could get the gun, that makes 5 I've got in the last few weeks I did catch the one that was in the house and it turned out to be 2 of them an adult and a small one also, I think it's cause Dutchess kept things like that away and Princess just don't care so much as long as they stay out of her food bowl LOL

Kwartel and I made it home with all our feathered purchases from New Castle, met lots of BYCers tonight, caught up with the few I already knew. We had a great time at the auction and a great meal after! Pics tomorrow...going to bed. Good night (morning)

There was a lot of one-lane construction on I-40, so slowing to 55 in those areas was necessary. I stopped for coffee in Dewar, which put me home around 11:00. By midnight I had my beautiful new Barnevelders (Barn Builders - he, he, he...) in comfortable cages. Don, you've done a great job with these birds. They're really spirited and strong. I love the lacing on the pullets.

I'm glad I made the drive to Newcastle. Visiting made it all worthwhile. I should have introduced myself to the table at the back. There were a lot of BYC folks I don't have name/face recognition for yet. I visited with Don, Jim, Michael, Rebecca, Al, Bill, Jack, Gerald, Carla, Maribeth, Deanne, bfrancis, kwartel, and MJ. There were others... but I'm still foggy from not having enough sleep.

I can see light outside. Time to go feed the flock. Good seeing everyone!

I made out like a bandit on the bell peppers, tomatoes and some hatching eggs that Gerald brought to the Newcastle auction.

Plus, I didn't buy anything that had to be fed or watered when I got home last night.

People on this board make me feel so......normal lol! I'm so glad to find out I'm not the only one who bathes every new animal I get lol There's 3 Polish here who belong to my grown daughter (she's back staying with us) and I'm finding them rather fascinating. They're so quick and comical tilting their heads to the side to see things. I wish there was a way to have lap chickens without raising them from babies. I'm about baby-chicked out after the past 2+ months.

Glad to know you made it home safely. Right after we left and it started raining, it dawned on me that the lane markings on Eastbound I40, as you approach the Ft. Smith junction, are very poorly done. We had difficulty staying in the same lane when we went through there on Friday night and I was wishing that I had warned you and suggested that you go I240 to I35 to get to the Turner turnpike, if that was your route home. They have not done a good job of covering up the white lines on the former pattern of the road and with the twists and turns it makes you dizzy trying to figure out where the dotted lines go and where the solid white lines are going so you can stay in the same lane through that area.
