Those are great photos and captions. You can just see those thinking wheels turning.

The boys are going to pull in all the summer calves this morning. It has been way too hot to tag, band and give shots so they are going to get that done....about 20 going thru the chute today. One of the newest has some edema in the navel so it gets a slit with iodine and pennicilin.
We tag the heifers with a white numbered tag and the little bulls/steers with a yellow numbered tag.... makes it easier when we sort for sale pens. Also we can match the calf to the cow by using their numbers.

Got 13 eggs yesterday from 30 hens in the laying pen. That's sure better than 1 or 2 a day. averaging about 10 a day now. Getting some pullet sized for those going back into cycle and some large eggs from those that have been laying for the past two weeks. None of these are fertile because there is no grown roo in the pen.

Carl and Stephanie, The BLRWyandottes are laying about 3 eggs a week...will get better...their eggs are still pullet sized but are getting a little better in size. Will start saving eggs for you after this next hot spell..days are going back up to the mid nineties for a week.
Will have to post photos of the next coop in progress later, I can hear the herd in the pen.

well, i was thinking bumble, but there doesn't seem to be the kind of scab you expect, but you can see areas that are hard on it- wonder if a general antibiotic might be needed?

Thought I would check in before leaving for the morning have to go feed and water the birds in town now. The kids did great we took 41 birds and it took nealr a full 1 1/2 pages to write all the placings and best of breed, best male and female of class, class champion and the overall grand champion.

I feel I need to say a special thank you to Richard Besser, Splitsocket, for allowing the use of his Wheaton Bantam Shamo. Both were AOCCL class champions, the hen went on to all over grand champion of show Junior and Open.
