(except for the major back surgery part... I had a throat operation that took months to heal right in 2010 but at least they didn't have to cut me open on the outside to do it).

The #1 reason I didn't get any chickens this summer when class was out was because it got hot quick and stayed that way. After losing the last of my girls to ice, I wasn't up to losing any from heat just yet.

We'll see how that goes...

I'm gonna at least format the paper (title page, table of contents, assemble my reference page). The actual text won't be difficult since I've already chosen my quotes/ source material.

Then I'll eyeball more chickens. LOL

I'll most likely stick to just Black Star for now since I really need layers. One day I'll eventually have the BLR Wyandottes and the Partridge Cochins that I desire... but this woman isn't very handy and has never figured out how to build stuff out of reclaimed material. Well, that and I can't ever seem to find materials to recycle until I need the project done!

Evening folks! Just got home from being at daughters house watching the OU game! Sooner Boomer!

Disappointed we didn't get to run back to Ok this weekend. SIL had been fussing wanting MIL home for past three weeks so we get ready to take her back this weekend and she whines no not yet I'm not ready yet! augh! Talked to my niece and she made it down to the Green Country meet. She had a great time and came home with 17 new chickens! She said everyone had a great time despite some morning rain. Said she saw lots of really nice birds. From the pics she sent ,hers were sure nice! Sorry I couldn't make it Joe. Hope it went smooth for ya and you had a great time.

Went to our local sale barn this morning. It was the last sale there. The property has sold and it will be torn down. Auctioneer is moveing it to a new temporary location. Hate to see the old sale barns go away. This one had been in business for over 50 years.
I came home with a new harlequin buck rabbit and another chocolate muscovy hen. Spent the afternoon rehanging the three rabbit cages in another place and putting the chicks I put out yesterday back inside before the cold rain gets here.

Faerielady you might as well let Michael set you up with a nice selection to start with. I'm sure he can come up with a nice variety of different breeds. A good variety of nice hens is a pleaseing sight to watch in the winter afternoons and comets rocks, reds and dottes all make good layers.

Late post for me. Just got back from Stilwell about an hour ago. Put all the new birds into quarantine pens in the barn. Got everyone food and water and turned out the lights. The rain kept a lot of folks away from the swap. Maybe next year we'll have sunshine and 70 degree weather. Looks like the storms followed me home. It's been pouring buckets since I unloaded the last cage. Tomorrow, after the lightning is gone, I'll download the photos I took at the swap.

Joe and Family: I enjoyed myself today. I was in poultry heaven with all the chicken lovers around, speaking the same language. We should do this again next year.
