Checked them this morning. Mom obviously was in the nest before I got there..she had pushed aside some of the long grass. Babies are warm and fat.

I think it'd be a heck of a lot easier to keep a pigeon inside than a chicken and lots of people have house chickens. I do agree that all birds would rather be outside though, that's the only reason I don't have an inside chicken lol I'd feel like I was cheating them, they have so much fun outside.

Firefly mine EE came from Michael. I think they are all laying. Got 6 ladies most eggs I have gotten has been 5 a day. But pretty sure I catch them all in the box occasionally. Eggs range from blue or green to olive green. Only one lays olive eggs but they sure are good looking birds & pretty eggs. He had lots of them when I got mine last month. If he doesn't have any on hand right now I am sure he will have some soon.

Buster I will pm you the reciepe when I am @ my computer-- hard to do on my phone-- you can compare it with yours & see if there is any difference I heard corn prices dropped at the end of last wk. Figure I will try to get to Carnegie this wk-- just as soon as DH unloads the back of the truck!!! Don't think 1000 lbs of feed would be good for my van or camry. Oh & I have a dz or 2 of RIR eggs that were fertiilized by that NN roo in the incubator. Will see how fast they grow & might take you up on help butchering. Hoping for some big plump birds!!!

Yesterday was eventful on the farm. Went down to work on pens-- had aviary netting that we hung up last weekend, but never cut he excess on the side. Found a yound skunk tangled up in the netting. So then the delima-- do we try to untangle it & hope not to get sprayed? Dh opted for the riffle instead. Don't think the skunk could have made it into the chicken pen, glad to know the netting caught it & no birds were lost. The skunk now has a nice permeant home in the ground, but the smell still lingers.

Now I am waiting @ the dr. Then my girls are both cheering for pee-wee & jr high football games tonight. Football season is wearing my girls out. Not sure how they are going to survive basketball! Makes it hard when they have games that are an hour or 2 away

We had some in our horse manure pile this summer. I think they were right about 10-14 days when eyes opened. They were always alone and I checked them daily but obviously growing. Around 3-4 weeks they were gone, I think they were large enough that they all left. I couldn't believe they didn't cook to death in that composting manure. Our temperatures were already in the low 100s and the manure was cooking!

Wow, that is a pretty weird spot to have a pile of kits!!

We had probably over 100 days having over 100 degrees. The normal 'temp was 105-107...
