I heard soaking them in warm water helps to relax them.

i always give them a warm bath and add tums to their drinking water, the calcium helps them relax and gives them a calcium boost

Just checked ImaJean. She has climbed the ramp all the way to the top of the roost...surrounded by all her girlfriends. She is very comfortable..no egg yet though. If the egg passes, it will bust on impact with the ramp or the ground. Will check on her about midnight. As long as she is comfortable, we are good. I don't want to stress her by taking any more action before it's absolutely necessry. Did some research....mineral oil can be introduced with a syringe and soft tubing guided by a gloved finger along the sides of the egg to help lubricate the canal followed by a warm bath.

Hopefully Nature and KY jelly will do the trick tonight.

What's really bad is I do something similar with the dogs. Cook a 10 lb bag of chicken in the crockpot all day, pull the bones out, glop a bit onto their food in the winter.

My animals eat WAY BETTER than I do. Reminds me, gotta figure out what's for dinner.

I fed my dogs a raw diet for a couple years. They can eat raw chicken just fine, bones and all. The bones are plenty soft for them to crunch up as long as you don't cook them. Same with pork neck bones, turkey bones, all bones. It got way too hard to buy and store it in bulk because I had too many dogs to do it easily. Their stomach acids kill any bacteria in the meat.

In the meat market hear in town you can buy triming's an bone's for your dog's..I feed my dog's this time of yr wild bor an the chicken's like it to dont no why but the dog's eat all of it but the skull..Ges it must be to tuff to chew up..The hide is the last thing they eat after finishing of the meat an bone's..Beaver is the 2nd thing they like,,

Good morning Okie's!!! How is everyone. Looks like another cool day with cooler tonight.
I got my feed building cleaned out last night so I can start getting show birds ready for this weekend, me & Lil'Sooner will be washing birds tonight.
I also may be moving the moderns to a new pen with the hopes of some eggs to hatch & alittle more protection for winter.

Hello Okies! So glad to have found this site (Thanks Robin!) I'm a brand new BYC owner - got my first 10 chicks this weekend. Can't wait to watch them grow & produce those yummy fresh eggs in the spring.
