Ugh I hated having to do that when my tank went out in 2005.

The cochin girls are molting... looks like it's snowing partridge feathers out there.

My daughter collected a handful of really nice feathers for craft projects. Since they'd been treated for mites, etc I don't see a problem with letting her use them.

I was really surprised to see them molting too. Added some dog food to their hot food ration starting yesterday. Hopefully that will help them re-grow their feathers faster.

wonder if having them inside for the summer messed up their molting schedule... they are so darn pretty!

we have duck, goose, guinea and chicken feathers floating around everywhere- not to mention the inside starlings, sparrow and bluejay...

Good Morning...a bit chilly out this morning with the dogs at 6:30.
The roosters were crowing from inside their coops....sounded all muffled.
None of them wanted to come outside. Smart boys!

Did a few inside chores and fed the boys...they are off to bring home the hay they baled yesterday....25 round bales will feed the herd for about 2 weeks.

Getting ready to go back out now and do the water/feeding routine.

Then back inside to do some genealogy searching....got a good connection on my Dad's biological grandfather. He died before 1909 by drowning and his wife put the little boys up for adoption...one was Dad's grandfather. Been searching for this line for 15 year's now. Ancestry.com has become more used with all the TV shows. Pack line in Georgia and Tennessee has begun posting. Looks like a good source for information. Spent many hours yesterday reading and making notes and finally found the Arkansas/Oklahoma connection. Going to see my Dad in February. He is in his 80s...would love to give him concrete information on his family line.

Morning folks! Got my icelandics yesterday! Will get pics today. They are a great varyed bunch, The roo is not reall pretty being a white with dirty splash. Some of the hens have small crest. But as usual with good comes the bad. As I was puting the new birds up ,Thor the roo I already had got scared and jumped the fence and I guess the Taco dog chased him and now I can't find him. I thought he might come back when the others started crowing this morning but so far no show. Guess I'll walk the neighborhood and see if I can find him. Hope he survived the night.

We had our first frost this morning! Doesn't apper to have been a killing frost tho.

Got to get around, will check in later with pics!

Vebi, you said you was at a sale in dodge on a sat. Was this a special sale. Sounds like your birds did well.

They had adds in the local papers. It was a good swap and sale. Swap from 9 to 12 and then the auction. Had quite a variety. I had posted mine on here for $20.00 a pair and they brought $40.00 to $42.00 at the auction.
