***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Evening all. It's getting colder out and very windy! Some gusts are knocking the chickens off balance.

Nanakat - nice looking birds and pens! You have a very colorful flock!

Kass - very pretty fall photos!

Today I was out plugging holes under the fences where the opossums are getting in. Just using rocks for now, though I know they won't last long. This evening or tomorrow I'm going to pick up a trail cam and place it out back to see if it's just opossums or some other critters getting in.

One of the sex link girls laid an odd colored egg today. Guess it shot through the chute too fast.

I have been freezing and dehydrating them, just have a ton more to do and am running out of freezer space. Think it's time for a second freezer. I don't usually make much jelly, I am very limited on the bread products I can eat since I am allergic to wheat. I have to really want a bread product to go to the hassle of making GF (bread, pancakes, waffles, cakes, pies, muffins, cookies etc....)

Groan!!! Boy am I sore,I have been busy today. Built one of the Jarvis A-framw pens, did the laundry and ironing and vaccummed and cooked supper!

Jarvis, Thanks for the A-frame instructioins! It was really surpriseing how simple it was to build and I love the looks and all the room it has! Only problem I can see so far is.... I need three more!lol I'm going to make at least two more so I can put my ee bantams and wyandotte bantams in them. That way the bigger walk in pens can be used for the Icelands.
Greybeard,I don't think I will be able to make it that far north,I was hopeing someone was going to be moveing around so I could get one moved a little farther south but don't look like anyone is. May have to wait till next time,be sure and save me one.

Nana glad you all were able to find some more hay.Thats got to be a great relief.Still looking forward to visiting your "spread" "ranch" "farm",what do you call your place anyway? We have a far neighbor who does a lot of buying and selling cattle. He had the prettiest little herd the other day. They were 6 red angus and one white(small charlay?) hefiers. They were all matched and were so pretty. I sure would have liked to have had them on my place back there!

Thanks Wayne. We just call it "the farm". Red Angus are nice looking...but are discounted in the sale ring...buyers want definite black skinned animals. Charolais are good beefy type...not in as much production in Oklahoma. Come any time.
