I would imagine sleeping in is a good thing.. I have yet to find enough coffee to get me moving around very well. I will have to get motivated soon though.

Oh wow-those Seramas are sooo cool! Although I can't imagine any chicken cooler than my Cochins and my Faverolles pair

I love them love them!
It seems my "straight run" Silkies from Ideal hatchery weren't actually straight run-they were roosters except 1

That's one heck of a "bachelor pen". Now that I have a better idea of where to get birds I'll never order from a hatchery again. I can't bear to get rid of the boys because I raised them from little'uns-and no one wants more boys anyway.
Can't remember which one of you has the standard Modern games-but THAT may be my next bird come spring! Maybe I should re-consider always getting LF though.....it would seem bantams have their advantages as far as eating less and taking up less space.

What brand of cool refreshing beverage? I bribe could be in order...

Got an old coke box that is an adult only beverage box stocked full of cool refreshing thirst quenching drinks plus a small selection of that firewater in a bottle for the ones that like something alittle stronger.

Francis someday id like to check out your quail setup i raise cots and only have 4 different color variations but planing on getting more colors and hopefully some different breeds.

I would imagine being nice and small would be very good for those who have th eoposite problem.. Most of the "Seramas" I have seen are 2x the size of my OE.

You're right...but not my doing's...I'm at the bottom of the totem-pole. For ABA showing serama HAVE to be between 12-16 oz...plus or minus 20% (depending upon the class)...which means that a pullet under 9.6 oz. is a DQ an a cockerel under 11.2 DQ So it doesn't make any sense for the world's smallest chicken...there may be a different Standard for the silkied serama someday, but not right now. I have to struggle to get mine BIG enough to show.

Why, in my opinion, ruin them by breeding them larger just to show in the aba? If you happen to have one that crops up big enough, then by all means show it. To purposely breed a larger strain

they are tiny birds & should stay tiny. Just my opinion, no offense intended.

Finished unloading and cleaning my truck after the free swap in Haskell. It was cold and windy, so I didn't see too many people shopping. I did manage to sell a few birds and had a quick lesson from a few old-timers about tractors. The antique tractor club folks are a nice bunch of people.

My cages were shielded from the wind, but I put my chicken purse out to let people know I had birds for sale. Here's what my truck looked like at the Haskell sale.

The sale at Stilwell was a lot of fun. Joe worked like a whirlwind helping people identify birds, making suggestions, directing his helpers, and letting people know they were welcome at the sale. Wayne, DD and taco puppy were great company. If the amplifiers weren't turned up so high, we might have been able to talk more. The geese and guineas were really loud, but I think they would have quieted down if the auction microphone wasn't cranked up so high.

The sale barn was full, and when people showed up with more birds, a new area was arranged just outside. All the birds were covered and kept comfortable. I think the site works well for auctions.

I'm not sure how many people were moving cages during the sale, but somehow Joe managed to keep them all coordinated.

Here area couple people you all know! Wayne... tell your daughter her boots are amazing. I didn't want to come across as a chicken whacko the first time we met, so I didn't overwhelm her with conversation. She seems like a neat young lady, and she has really nice taste in boots.
