***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Michael - Sorry to hear you had such a strong reaction to a spider bite. Ick. I'm glad to know you are on the mend. Here's a silly picture a friend sent me a while back. I hope it makes you smile. Wearing such a suit of birds might make a person safe from future spider bites.

Michael so glad you went on in to the hospital...spider bites are nothing to fool around with. Did you get an indication as to what kind of spider bit you? Brown recluse maybe? My doc had me make a paste from a little nesporin and a Nitro pill (for heart attacks) and apply that with a bandaid. It reoxygenates the area. A spider bite takes the oxygen out and that is what causes the tissue to die. On both bites, I had no tissue loss.

Thanks for the BD wishes Wayne and P&B...yep..the girls like to borrow the jewelry.

Coyboy Great Lahore pictures!

We ended up with 1 inch of rain over the past two evenings.

Hope everyone has a great holiday planned. We are going to have all three of our girls and their families. Love the big get-togethers. Have to finish a few more soap batches today and then clean up the kitchen so I can make pies Wednesday and start the turkey.

Nanakat I'll have to remember that about the nitro. I had never heard that before, but nitro is a vaso dilator so it would definately increase blood flow and thereby increase oxygenation. When taken under the tongue it can also decrease blood pressure, sometimes drastically, I'm not sure if it would have the same systemic reaction if applied to the skin or if the dilation would just be local.

Thanks for the nice comment
About the time I got moved in here, month and ahalf or so back. I was cleaning out an old chicken house and got bit by a brown recluse. It festured up like a big pimple about 1/2 inch around. I had VA doc appointment couple days later and when we were done with what I went there for I showed the doc my bit (on inner fore arm) he said just watch it, it didnt look infected. Here it is 1 1/2 month later and it has spread to about an inch and ahalf circle. red in the middle and around the edges several little fester bumps. Doc still says dont look infected.

Haven't posted for several days. I caught a de-funkify bug, so I've been getting rid of stuff I don't need or want around the house. Thank goodness for big junk pick up day!

Michael - so sorry about your dog. I hope Macy is doing o.k., and about that spider bite - wow! It's a good thing you went to the Dr. and didn't wait around.

Nanakat - Happy Birthday!

Nice looking birds, everyone.

The little Serama baby is doing great. It spends a lot of time under mama and she is VERY protective of her baby. They're both in the house in a large plastic bin that I've used as a brooder before with other chicks. The mama shows no interest in getting out of it, and her boyfriend, Sidewinder, shows no interest in getting in. He is lonely without her though, so I put him on my lap while I surf the internet and feed him treats. He's come to expect his daily surf and turf!

I made a diaper for Sidewinder. Had to make a few adjustments and am still working out some details, but he does NOT like wearing it at all. He picks at it constantly. It may take some time wearing it for him to get used to it.

Mike hope you get to feeling better! Getting to visit with you was great. I think we "enabled" my buddy. After hanging out with you that afternoon and helping loading your birds up..all he could talk about was different chicken breeds and colors. He said he didn't know there were so many

He lives in an area he can have hens.

Bread was great too! Thanks again.

Things look like they have been quiet around here this week! I avoided everything yesterday. Tried not to cook do chores anything. Still winding down from DH ceromony last wk, plus church & school activites. DH had duty last night so we had soup & cornbread for dinner. Kids were getting ready for bed last night & reading when the dogs started going wild. Didn't even have to stick my head out the door & look, we all figured out real quick they cornered a skunk by the house! Today the smell isn't strong inside, but 3 of the dog STINK! Told DH I wasn't going near them & he could deal with it when he comes home. I saw skunk traps at the junk store in Chickasha, guess I might need to pick one up.

I have already bought everything for Thanksgiving but DH informed me he has to serve Thanksgiving to the basic trainees, sounds like we will be eating at the chow hall Thursday........ so I won't be cooking turkey after all.

I never pickled an egg but DD really wants to have some pickled eggs. She has never tried one, but is way curious about them. I have heard some say they just drop the eggs in left over pickle juice, and put in the fridge for a wk or so.
