***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Well Thanksgiving and the big boy birthday are all over successfully. I did it all despite catching the crud thats going around. My Serama BillyClyde is settling in nicely. I think I need parrot cage for him. The chickens are all doing great. Life is good. Thanks to everybody on this thread for holding my hand through this so far. I couldnt do it without you guys.

Well hubby works on Fort Sill, so within a reasonable drive from there. The biggest hurdle is getting this place ready to sell. It needs a new roof and some stuff done on the inside. We don't want to take out loans, so it is slow going. After the holidays we are tightening our belts and getting things done if it kills us. LOL I'm hoping to spend next winter in a new house with land, but hubby says it'll be longer then that. We'll see.

I don't know if it is a good or bad thing to nearly get frostbitten while harvesting the garden.

That would cause quite the dilemma, wouldn't it?? Ya know....Cochin bantams are so small....you were wanting a house chicken anyway.....you'll get super attached if you raise that one alone inside.....I'm thinking maybe it's all happened for a specific reason

Did you loose the LF Silver-laced Cochin pullet? She was so sweet and small. Some do just get right to my heart.

Evening Okies,

I visited my does at the breeder's in Tahlequah today. They are staying until the second week in December to allow Naomi to cycle again. I brought 100 pounds of grain mixture to make sure they don't run out. The buck is protecting them well, so I didn't go into the pen, but he did allow each doe out to visit me. I gave each doe a rubdown and a big persimmon branch. They still know my voice, and their names, so I'm content. I'm having trouble uploading photos, but this one did work. It shows Galen and her Man.

Oh no, she's still here. I'm pretty positive she's a bantam though and not an LF. Did you buy her as an LF? She's the same exact size as my 3 Bantam Cochins. He's just huge and she's about 2 lbs tops. I've considered several times placing him only because I have more males than females but I can't ever bring myself to do it, I look at him and change my mind. He does get along fine with other males, even the 5 yr old game bantam leaves him alone because he doesn't get up in anyone's face like a lot of roosters do. They're in a 40x40 or so yard with the laying hens and the game bantam & do fine. I've got 6 that I'm giving away to various people so I have more than enough room and am keeping the 2 Silver Laces now. Once I made the decision not to keep the Easter Eggers and a few others, it got easier.
