***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Good to see CityClucks and Greybear back again.

The Golden Marans are very lovely/handsome birds. You are both lucky owners.

Picked up the CW baby today and have it in a cage next to the two bigger CWs. It is enjoying the heat lamp and the two big buddies Terra and Quiver.
Carl and Stephanie...what were those little banties in the brooder with it today? Sure were tiny things. Sure were some nice little Bantams in those cages too.

DGibson...those were pretty Bantam Delawares. The bantams must have smaller combs. My Large fowl Delawares have much bigger combs.

Nasty Nesty Nellie is still sitting tight on those last 8 eggs...no action yet. Hopefully tonight..some were due to hatch on Dec 2. She was talking to them tonight when I checked on her and the others in the hottub room and then closed up the barn for the night.

Morning!

Michael, totally feel your pain. Unfortunately I do not want to take any more days off right now but I have a ton of stuff to get done, just not enough time to get it all done. first thing is getting the water barrels set up and steal the heated pipe wrap out of the well house. Have a heater in there to keep the pipes from freezing anyway so going to use the heater wrap where it is really needed. The rest of the stuff is going to have to wait til next paycheck.

Oh, the mini rooster is officially a classroom rooster. All the kids and most of the staff are excited to have him here. The principle being one of the most excited, keeps referring to the rooster as his.

The naming contest will be next week. I will keep you all updated on what he ends up with. Only problem I have is that when the rooster is at my desk he pecks at the keys on the computer keyboard.

Joe, I'm trying to talk her outta her hen! I always need more! Most of the other hens I see look more like a cuckoo marans.

She laid her 1st egg today but it was cream colored. I think that means she's not a Marans, correct?

I agree with whoever told you that it wasn't a Marans due to the leg color. Marans have white legs. The fact that she is not laying a darlk egg just adds to the fact that she probably isn't a Marans.

Hey Rex, what breeds did you have? My 12 year old son is gamebird crazy. I am having a hard time keeping him to just a few breeds. He wants everything.
Right now we have CC Kelsos, Black Roundheads, Spangled Roundheads, Blueface Hatch, Leiper Hatch, Sweater Greys, Pumpkin Hulseys, Toppys and several hens that are either crosses or some we just don't know for sure just what they are. I will probably be selling a bunch of those.
He wants to buy some Black McRaes that a friend has for sell but he has already spent all of his chicken money.
He doesn't have mated pairs or trios in all of those breeds, mainly just the cocks, but he is working on getting some breeding pairs and trios together.

Could easily be what they call a well-bar Wellsumer x barred rock or cuckoo maran. The Crele color pattern is created using a wildtype partridge male over a barred female. She is definetly crele in color and pattern.

Good morning Okie's, is everyone getting ready for the cold coming??

I have a few things to do & I need to get my cookie tin heaters out this week.

Monty~ Good to see you posting, I guess the computer is hanging on?
