Skyfire was the only one that changed feather color / pattern after the molt.

This pic is a little overexposed, but it shows the blue polka dots on her back, they weren't there before the molt.

Kass what are you doing with your garden? I was considering tilling mine just to help break it up & maybe adding some chicken poo.

found the pics of the bar room brawl between captain and barny the brahma roo

captain gives me the impression he is saying 'shoulda seen the other guy!'

barny seems to be saying, 'for a little guy he sure packs a punch!'

Cleaning out some beds, tilling the ones that aren't still actively growing. Gary just got the okra forest cut down, I need to chip them. My girls are taking care of laying the poop (lol), raking the grass roots out of the beds that have been tilled, pulling grass out of the edges that couldn't be reached by the tiller (can't wait until the chicken moat is up and full of chickens so hopefully no more (or significantly less) grass pulling) Mowing leaves putting them in the garden beds / runs the girls are in right now for them to start pooping on and turning under.

Morning Everyone!

Dang I hate when roos fight. I do not keep a rooster if it starts fighting, so needless to say I have a bunch of wussy roosters. Plus they would rather get along then have the cuddle conversation with mom. Roosters do not like to cuddle with each other, found it is a very effective deterrent. lol

Hope everyone has a wonderful productive or lazy day as you see fit. Going to spend the day with the DD. She has to go back Friday and I am so not looking forward to that. You would think it would get easier but it doesn't. Guess it does not help that she is hurt and I can not be with her all the time. Oh well hopefully she will be home soon.

Got to go. Have a good one everyone!

I don't know that I can get that much done!

I will be doing good just to put the poo on & some leafs! I guess that is why your garden looked so much better than mine!

Got up early and followed Ethan (son) to Weatherford this morning to get tires and ailinment on his pickup. We had a couple hours to kill so went to Tractor Supply to do some looking. I picked up the new edition of Countryside and small stock Journal (an awesome magazine that I have read for 40 years). There was an interesting article in it about Asian Gamefowl on the homestead.

Kass, those are hands down the most beautiful EE's! You could be the spokesperson for EE's with those pictures. I just dearly love bearded chickens. And Easter Eggers are perfect because they're easy to find and come in every color of the rainbow. Yours look so healthy and big and strong, they're truly gorgeous and make me want more "Eggers".
Robin, your 2 boys and Matt's remind me of that Toby Keith song where he says he's not as good as he once was but he's good once as he ever was lol! The video is hilarious.Looks like the boys bite off more than they can chew.
I'm trying to be soooo patient waiting for this whole holiday thing to be over so I can start squirreling money into my "Chicken Pen Fund" again. I just didn't get into Christmas a single bit this year. I'm still planning on planting gourds all the way around the pens in the back yard. I think it was Kass (?) that had pictures of snake gourds? That's what I want, I loved em'. When do gourds have to be planted anyway....? It's frustrating that Christmas is already passed but I've still got SO long to go before spring.
I tried putting a couple of the bigger laying hens with the Brazilian I got from GotGame but he made it clear he did NOT want female company. Matt wondered if the hens would be too mean to him since he's just a teenager but it took all of 10 seconds before he had them running and screaming scared for their lives, he kept attacking them. I guess no one told him "abuse is not ok" when it comes to the ladies. I think that'll change once he's fully sexually mature, he probably just saw them as intruders into his pen at this point since he's young.
