***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Cool bird pics everyone.

elwood beauty is only skin deep, warm, safe and dry is all that matters. (But I could be prejudiced as an owner of two ugly coops! )

LOL I have a ton of them I used some to seal holes in other coops and threw a few in with the piggies the female will get covered up and all you can see sticking out is her nose the male has a lot more hair than she does so the cold don't bother him as much

So let me get this straight. You have pigs in a blanket...

Don't feel bad, we don't know that these 2 Silkies were even in with males. I suspect the Partridge was because she was plucked bald on the top of her head-or as Robin would say, "de-poofed" lol Have you tried Ebay for eggs? It seems BYC auctions are pretty high compared to Ebay.

Good Morning Everyone,, out of 30 hens I am getting maybe 4 eggs a day what can I do to get them laying? All but a couple are old enough I thought about heating the coops in the mornings and for a while during the day I think thats gonna run into a few dollars extra perhaps, any other ideas??

Egg production is more about length of light, than heat. Put lights on a timer and give them more hours of light. I have mine coming on at 3:30 in the morning. They have been on this time for a couple weeks now and egg production is up considerable.

Just a thought but mine had slowed down due to moult, they have now come out of that & back to laying again(not like in spring). If yours aren't in moult is it possible that you have something getting your eggs? I will set up lights in late Feb or March but for now it's all natural.

How is everyone this morning??

I am doing good but also tired. I thought of you guys as I flew through Shawnee this morning about 5:30!

What birds are you working on now? Lil'Sooner has a show this Friday.....

Greetings Okie-Homeys! I also loved the photos - and I think your coop would make a fine winter bunker, Elwood!
