Wonderful!!!!!
What a great poem for Oklahoma weather - including unseasonably warm days like today, when the temperature is in the low 70s but the wind will about blow you over.

One of them (one of my favorites) got pushed out of the flower pot, it looks like. None of them will use the other one I put out there for them, but as long as they're happy where they are it's OK with me.

was so beautiful today, hard to believe its December! I didn't write this but thought all of you would enjoy it!

My wish for you in 2012

May peace break into your home, and may thieves come to steal your debts.
May the pockets of your jeans become a magnet for $100 bills.
May love stick to your face like Vaseline, and may laughter assult your lips!
May happiness slap you across the face, and may your tears be that of joy!
May the problems you had, forget your home address!
In simple words .......
May 2012 be the best year of your life!!!

Went and bought feed today and it wasn't my imagination, it had went up a dollar a bag. Chicken feed is now roughly 559.00 a ton which is pretty close to a criminal offense or at least should be.

Tuesday I am going to look into buying it bulk so this weekend I am going to have to build a bulk feed hauler out of an old grain tank from a model 55 JD combine. If nothing else I will get some 20% natural range cubes (for cattle) and run them through a grinder to get them back to bite-sized bits and suppliment with some Calf-Manna and other secret ingredients. With some modification I bet that I can turn the chipper-shredder into a hammer mill. All that needs to be added is a set of screens to be just like the big ones. And an old cement mixer will double as a feed mixer.

On a brighter note the eggs that we have in the incubator from the red bantam NNs are coming along very well and the first two set should hatch in a day or two. I'm doing incubation Teach style, when the bator starts cheeping they are done!!

So good to hear from you! Only two hens...wow! ...but a good start. I am so happy that you are doing well and that you are keeping us updated! We miss you!

Hiya All, was a really nice day today the wind was something I couldn't keep my hat on I was about to use the chin strap but changed my mind I think it might have pulled my head off and I wouldn't have been able to chase it down, Got a few new yard birds really, really cool, Thanks P&B I have decided that I am going to clone your pens I was really impressed with those the challange will be that I don't have as much level ground as you LOL I bet I figure it out though,

I hope everyone has a safe and fun evening I will be staying in and being a hermit I think in most cases you can't get arrested for that LOL

I concur - the price of feed is increasing rapidly, for no apparent reason. I think that corn prices are being kept high by the demand for cattle feed and ethanol, but my perception is that corn is not the main ingredient in chicken feed - so don't understand why the feed keeps jumping up in price.

Let us know if you find it economical to use the cattle cubes and grind them for the chickens.

Evening all! What a beautiful day it was here! We got back about one ,after cleaning the car out and putting away the grocerices,I went and met a lady at the intersate exit. Took her one g.pig and brought home 4 ! I think there is around 34 out there now. Sale time better hurry and get here!
Let the icelandics out to run for a bit. They are so funny to watch,a real bunch of clowns. They are finally starting to lay better.
Want to wish everyone a very Happy New Year! Hope its a better one for everyone! I raise my solo cup to you!(don't worry, ite ice tea!lol)

I am mixing my own feed, the birds are doing well on it, and they like it. It runs 12.08 per 50lbs. 16% protein, 3.25% fat, with catfish food, oat extender, layer pellets, but is mostly an even mix of sweet grains and game cock ration.
