Thanks..a bag of feed ...right?

Yours are Free.... or maybe a jar of something... your choice.

It's only a bag of feed if I need to brood them for a few weeks.

You've seen the pantry.

Joe,

I'm not sure I can go yet. I love the photos of your New Hamps, and I was hoping to get some eggs from you... I'll have to wait until I know my schedule for the week.

Awwww. Aren't you the nicest person!!! No wonder Stephanie keeps you!
I'm loving the Columbians and the Cochins and your family!!

The last BLRW hen took a vacation from laying and has decided to try again....I really think she thinks she is royalty...and she misses Jarvisroo.
There are two Columbian chicks in with NNN. One you hatched for me and one NNN hatched. The little Cochin is MJgigax's baby

Robin to stop the bleeding on a broken feather you pluck what is remaining and then hold your finger on the spot where it came out for a short time. It will stop bleeding much faster that way. On the other matter all I can think of is that is either the membrane from a failed egg or the hen is shedding some lining in the intestinal tract. Ive been told that shedding lining every now and then is normal and most of the time the hen seem unaffected. But I would still keep a close watch on her for awhile to see if anything else pops up.

Robin do you have a set of scales like is used in the kitchen? It would be interesting what the birds weigh. As Carl has said a chicken builds internal fat first and if there is too much of it then it wreaks havoc on the internal organs, especially the heart, liver, and the reproductive system. With a hen it's important that all of her internal workings are allowed to be lined up for proper egg production. Excess fat puts everything out of line.

Evening Folks!

Happy New Year!!!!

May love and laughter light your days,
and warm your heart and home.
May good and faithful friends be yours,
wherever you may roam.
May peace and plenty bless your world
with joy that long endures.
May all life's passing seasons
bring the best to you and yours!

May one and all have a safe, happy, prosperous year to come!

thanks Les, she seems fine now, but she is a big girl, how do i tell without a scale whether she is fat, she is coming out of a molt and soft and shiny? I noticed Muffy's shoulder this morning, the blood was dried, so maybe she hurt herself in the nite? i couldn't find a wound other than a broken feather that was coming in

NanaKat, the knee is healing well; quite a bit better than the first one done in July. Thanks for asking. I'm hoping to be good as new by summer.

Evening all! It was sure a pretty Jan. first day here! But the fridgid air is supposed to be blowing in. And boy is it blowing!

Think I might have a buyer for a bunch of g.pigs lined up,sure hope so! 34 is a lot to take care of. And they are to crowded. Had one give another a hair cut today! I mean it shaved the hair clean off one side! And it was a longhaired breed! Looks kinda wierd now!lol

Les I have a table top running now to. I have never had good luck with it. Its a wafer type and I put a new one in. The last two hatches I only had one hatch each time! I seem to lose them at the end.Any suggestions? They are in a turner.
