Morning Okies..........I am in Tulsa at St. Francis.....A very good friend is in ICU. Kind of weird, but it is comforting/distracting to me, to be able to get on this silly laptop and feel like something in my universe is sane. I do need to toot a horn for the nurses/staff on 4 North (ICU) up here.....an amazing group of people!

Thanks for your kind words and prayers......my friend is going to be okay.....

I adore the staff up here at St. Francis. I was ill for a very long time (39 hospital stays in the last 3 years).........this group of people DO care and WILL go the extra mile for you!

We just have a long road to hoe right now..............but all WILL be okay........prayers and warm thoughts are welcome..........

I didn't see the skunk, but was told by several old timers that killing the chickens and drinking the blood and leaving the rest is the work of a skunk. All I had left were a few lucky chickens (who got a pardon from the freezer) and a pen full of dead chickens.
btw... what's a chicken moat? Is it something I need?

I originally got my chickens as garden worker w/ egg benefits, the moat is an extension of my chicken / garden workers concept. I am putting a run in that surrounds my gardens entirely and keeping the chickens I intend to raise for meat in that run where they can keep the grass and weeds from getting in the garden and keep more bugs like hoppers and such from getting in the garden, anything bad trying to assault my garden has to pass through the "chicken moat" where hopefully it will be eaten or uprooted. That is the plan anyway, I also intend to use the area as further garden areas w/ protected trellised plantings to provide extra shade and make best use of every space. I got the trellis idea from a BYC'er named darkmatter.
