***OKIES in the BYC III ***

I'm not picky about the lacing. Im not looking for show quality. My goals are a Silver or Gold Laced Ameraucana cross that Lays Blue Eggs. I might try a few different roos to see what happens. I want the Blue egg gene. Thanks

Why can't you eat meat? Just curious.

I have some weird disorder that makes me unable to process meat fat. Sucks because I can not even eat fish. It is painful and not pleasant at all. Just saying!!!

Spend your money wisely, if you want the Blue eggs and Silver lacing here is your shortest route, buy a Trio of Silver Duckwing Americauna or Auracauna from a breeder, By a trio of Silver Laced Wyandotte, Place the Wyandotte Rooster over the Americauna or Auracauna hens, and The Americauna or Aracauna rooster over the SLW hens. Mate males from Pen 1 to females from Pen 2. Keep a laced cockrell from this mating and place back over thier mothers. In the process only set and hatch the Blue / Green eggs. Wyandottes lay a very light creamy colored egg, and will not interfere with the Green / Blue egg.

All offspring from both pens will be laced, and al the pullets from Pen 2 will lay Blue / Green eggs, some of teh pullets from Pen 1 will lay a blue / green egg.

I don't really understand? Do I put the Roo SLW over the SDA? Then hatch, grow them and keep a laced male and put that male over the same SDA? them do the same with the SDA Roo over the SLW Hens?
I hope that makes since. I don't know much genetics.

Nate,
SL male x SDW female Pen 1, all offspring will be silver laced, possibly poorly laced.
SL Female x SDW male Pen 2, All offspring will be laced but lacing of lesser quality than Pen 1.

Raise the birds out,

mate Pullets from Pen 1 to Cockrell(s) from pen 2,
Mate Pullets from pen 2 to Cockrell(s) from Pen 1.
Set only Blue / Green eggs

Keep best laced birds, continue to only set Blue green eggs, work on lacing over the generations. Always keep 2 pens with Cockrells mated to pullets from teh other pen, this will maintain some diversity and allow you establish a line with known traits,

I just want to say i have been keeping up with all the posts on breeding to get certain traits and im amazed at the knowledge that Carl has on this .. I know it has taken years to learn the ins and outs of breeding and we all should be glad we have him to turn to when we need info.. I have only got to meet Carl in person once and that was at the Shawnee show and i know he was busy and tired from all the work but he still took the time to stop and talk for a bit.. He is always the first to offer help to anyone and goes out of his way to help others.. I dont post much on here but i do read all that is said . I just felt like saying that even though i dont really know Carl except from here that he is one fine gentleman .My hat is off to Carl for being the man he is... PS.. I recieved no compensation for this add...lol

I don't think you will find anyone on here that will argue with you!Carl is Mr.Oklahoma BYC! WE are proud to have him on board our Okie thread.

Finally warmed up here today. I finished putting the wire on the cage I'm building for auction. Then loade it onto the trailer. Now waiting, auction is still a week away!lol. May have done to much lifting and straining. Not felling the best tonoght. I forget when I get to working that I am disabled, but it always comes back later to remind me!
