***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Look who came out to say hi this morning.
You have babies! Everyone's got babies but me!

And SixShooter has babies, too lol!

Guy's tip of the Day
Today's topic, Bio Security. How many times have you had someone come to your house and visit and you say "come out and look at the chickens". Weather they are friends just visiting, or possible someone that saw your birds and are interested in them or someone that answered your ad "for sale chickens". Everyone that steps foot in your chicken pens is a possible carrier of some chicken disease or bug. This stuff can be carried on clothes and shoes. Be very careful about letting others walk around your yard. Same can be said about you. You go to some friends house, go to check out a show, or AUCTION etc. You are taking a chance of bringing some uninvited bug back to your fowl without ever having bought or brought in new birds. When I go to a show, auction or just out looking at other folks chickens, I always wear a different pair of shoes I do chores in and always change clothes before getting back to my birds. It is tough keeping all the things that you can see (varmits) from getting your fowl, at least with a little effort you can keep all those things you cant see at bay.
Good advice. We bleached our shoes and stripped our clothes off when we got back from the auction last weekend as soon as we got home. And all the new birds got baths but that waited til the next day.

Nanakat,
You too are an Artist with an analytical side. We are rare birds indeed.
My classroom is super organized; shelves color coded, count scissors, markers and ect. before each class leaves. Counting the erasers and pencils makes the kids think I am crazy but it sure does cut down on theft. Actually we can count stuff, put away projects and keep the floor clean pretty fast and it doesn't hurt if the kids do think I am crazy.

(We need a smilie that is laughing diabolically.)

Ok, I just did the spell check because I was sure I'd spelled "analytical" wrong. I had spelled it correctly!
It still looks wrong. Spelling is one area where I am not together on.

@Okla-doodle-doo - It’s cold here too but it's supposed to warm up to 55 today. No problems with the submit button but the post a reply button doesn’t seem to work right.

I also haven't figured out how to edit my signature in this new format.

A gratuitous chicken pic.... This is my Lavender Rooster. I was going to sell/trade him but when I got the RiR Roo there were two Lavender Orp hens and I couldn’t resist.

I like orpingtons a bunch anyway and I really liked him inparticular, but now I have three breeds (Cochin, RiR/NH and Orpingtons) intead of two. I guess I can get eggs from the reds, meat from the blues, and broody moms from the Cochins.

I like it.

I don't have any babies ksane. I want to get some in the spring if I get the new coop / moat finished. I want to get some NN's.
When I think about how much I stressed and worried over my Cochins and Silkies I'm glad I don't have babies. I'll enjoy your NN babies through you when you get them and not have the worry part.

I love your "Guy's Tip of the Day"
Please keep them up. They are full good stuff plus reassuring like Paul Harvey on the radio doing the daily Farm Report.
