I caught my peacock displaying his pretty feathers & calling out to his lady today. She ignored him, but my guineas were very interested to see what was going on.

Carl you sure got lots of colors, and from what I see on here, they all look awesome. Reason I asked about the standard was wanting someone with the new one to look and see what colors they are recognizing in the asil bantam.

Not to attempt to hijack this thread, but I had heard that the price of hay is exorbitant in OK... tell me this isn't true... I live in Minnesota, and just can't believe that a bale of hay is so expensive... can someone shed some light on this?

I bought some Upland hay here for $8.00 a bale and the seller was really truthful about it. He can only haul about 300 bales at a time which makes his expenses higher then if he had a big truck. He bought it in Mn. for $3.50 and was just basically wanting to get his fuel money out of it and not turn a profit.


At $4 dollars a mile trucked in from Mn. (about 900 miles) the price of a small square should be $9.50 a bale if the hay was bought at $3.50. If rounds were bought at $40 then they should cost $140 per bale once you split the trucking cost with the amount of bales hauled. Trucking would be $3600 divided by 36 bales hauled on a load.


The least that I have seen trucking offered for is $2.75 a mile but they only wanted hauls of 500 miles or less so they could make it a day trip. I wonder how much freight rates on the Union Pacific are?

Yeah, they were set on the 7th. but I will be working nights the rest of this week and that swing from days to nights kicks me in the tail real hard, I knew if I did not get everything set and moved I would have chicks in my incubator again, and that makes for a mess, as well as injured chicks when they fall from 4ft to the incubator floor.
Moving them a day early won't hurt them and may allow them to better position themselves for hatching.

When the replacement cochin eggs from Jim arrive, should I call Stephanie then...you might be sleeping.

Not much rain so far but the light show has killed power once already, When I first moved in here I never lost power for like the first 6 years and in the last 4 years it just gets worse every year one would think that would be the sort of thing they would know how to prevent...
