***OKIES in the BYC III ***

morning guys, first cup drunk, so my eyes are open- deanna- those were the only ones to hatch, cute little buggers- one of them launched over Latte to land on the white hen's back- it was too funny!

coral- why do your ee's go broody??? Lacy is now broody...silly girl!

I've been watching the hatchings. Those are so cute!! my girls are cuddled on the couch watching it.

I don't get coffee. My coffee maker broke several months ago. I have been ok without coffee for a while, but these very cold mornings its horrible without coffee! So when the tax refund comes in, I am buying myself a really really nice coffee maker.

I'm going to look on CL to see if I can get two-four hatching eggs of a breed I want to set with this batch of eggs. I have to return the incubator the first week of march. If I get some eggs the next few days, it will be pushing it, but I should be able to hatch. I figure if I am already hatching the broilers, I also hatch something I really want all at once.

What did you have to do to get the incubator? I am thinking of calling our OSU extention office today. We have 4 eggs ready to set (1 blue splash maran, 2 cuckoo maran and 1 golden salmon maran) I will probably get more in the next 2 days those are just from yesterday. I want to try it before we invest in an incubator of our own.

Robin - None of my breeding stock (EEs) have ever gone broody. You are just lucky, I guess.

I watched the TN hatch for a bit. Really neat to watch the little guys pip. When I checked my hatcher this morning, I found 18 of 20 hatched and dry. This is a first. I've never had a whole group hatch on the same day. The stragglers are still in the hatcher, but I have a feeling they are not going to pip. This hatch is all EEs, mostly dark, but many that will have color as they grow. I have lots and lots of puffy little faces and rear ends in the brooder today. The chick on the left got a piece of wood shaving caught on his leg. He walked around in circles, like a puppy, trying to get it free. After he gave up, a curious hatchmate spotted the shaving and pulled it off. That's EE teamwork

OMGosh I love having chickens but no one told me having itty bitty chicks were so much fun! They are so stinking cute! I could sit forever watching them play and then settle to sleep only to have one jump off into the huddle and wake everyone up. I even think my hubby enjoys the babies as much as I do! LOL he is building them a bigger brooder and a 2nd brooder for the older chicks to move to. I can now see how babies are addicting. I may be in trouble if we learn to hatch our own, haha.

Good Morning everyone.

Babies are so cute & fun to watch. Thanks for the pic POCO, I love seeing babies.

DD went to the eye exam & her eye's are just fine so if the migrains continue we will have to go to the doc. Hopefully this doesn't continue & was only because she was overly tired.

Dreary morning here & already had to hike up the hill to try to find DD phone, she lost it when she got her jeep stuck in the pasture......we didn't find it
