***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Hi! I had to leave for a few minutes to make pancakes. We had brunch rather than breakfast today. We may have lunch, too, but if it's too late we'll just call it linner.

I put this on the planning thread for NEOCS, but not many people have commented, so I'm going to post the T-Shirt design here for some feedback. I want the design to be reminiscent of the old Woodstock T-shirts, so look at the red background (Woodstock) design and then let me know if the black background (Chicken Stock) makes sense. Peace signs? No peace signs? What looks best?

I'll work it up so that we can see how the design looks on a red shirt. I'll need to change the comb on the chicken so that we don't lose it into the background. Egg-shaped peace signs... I'll see what I can do.

My little wheaten shamo chicks are a week and a half old today. One has been flying up to hit his little head on the screen top of the brooder. I picked him up and put him on top of the brooder, and he turned into a statue. I could see the wheels turning inside his head. He wanted to be back with his buddies. Outside wasn't so great after all. He's got the biggest, sharpest toenails of any chick I've ever seen. As a group, they are surprisingly calm. I expected a flighty bunch.

Michael, I sure do miss hearing from you here and that sure is one pretty daughter you've got. You'll be old before your time when your youngest girl grows up a bit. Macy's SOOO pretty and such a great kid judging from the stories you tell.
P&B, I'm not sure what beets taste like? I know I wanted the vinegar for the salt taste but both together just might have an interesting taste.
And yes-chickens love bermuda, so do I. I wish I could get it started here again, the seeds are so expensive. The miniature horse, donkey and sheep I had the past few yrs killed every bit of it. I've only got the 1 sheep left but still no grass.
Poco, love the chick in your avatar lol! You've just got to keep him, he can be the Okie BYC Mascot. The t-shirt design is awesome, you're so good at that stuff. I love it love it! I like the peace signs because my husband always calls them chicken tracks, but I'm thinking they distract from the rest of the shirt. That is one cool design. I can't wear black because I have too many dogs though, so I like the red background better. I've always been envious of people who can wear black.

I have a pile roots and runners you can have all of it! If your going to the chicken stock in Muskogee, I'm sure I will still have piles of the runners / roots I'll bring you some.

I've seen pics of NNxCochins - they are really wild looking - kind of a mini, short legged ostrich!

Okay. I've drawn peace eggs freehand. My template is either round or square; there's no egg shape to choose. Should they be at the bottom? Or are the guitar/Oklahoma tuning pegs/eggs the better place? I've outlined the comb in black. I don't know if it's enough to keep it from disappearing into the background.

i like them on the top, the ones below don't look quite right to me... might just be me... on the comb, i like the outline- adds to the whole concept.. you are doing a great job!

It was nice to meet you at the auction. Hope you get some good Gold Salmon Marans chicks. The are fun to hatch, come in all kinds of colors. Some are solid chocolate brown as chicks!

Nice to meet you too, now I just have to get an incubator. DH is thinking about making one from an old refridgerator his mom sent home with him. I know he can just not sure if we will save money making our own or spend more lol.

I LOVE this one, Poco! The egg shaped peace sign idea was perfect, MJ. Because they do look like chicken tracks and they're shaped like eggs and still ties in with the Woodstock idea. Perfect. The red outline around the comb worked perfect. I really like this one. Black would look more classy but red stands out better. And anyway-how classy can a bunch of chicken folks be? lol
