hey joe- what hatching eggs do you have available? yup another broody....sheesh!

What is your secret? None of my girls seem interested in sitting a nest. I want to set some eggs the old fashion way but you have to have a broody to do that, lol. I even put some of those ceramic eggs from the feed store in the laying hen coop to try to inspire one of them to set. No luck yet after 3 weeks.

Good morning~ I am sleepy & wish I could of stayed in bed longer! I had an extra day off & spent it taking my grandma to the doctor. Today it is back to work.

Your are a good egg! How is your grandmother doing?
I double checked the pavilion at the park this morning. There are plenty of electric hookups.
There are 32 picnic type tables which will seat six people, eight if we put chairs on the ends.
We will still need some regular tables for me and people like me who may not be
able to sit at a conventional picnic table.
So how are you? I know you are covered up in busy at work, hopefully it will get better soon.

Yep some won't go broody. What kind do you have Oakridge? None of mine are trying to sit yet, still alittle early but look to be dealing with it as spring gets closer, last fall was bad for mine (they all wanted to sit)

I am doing great! Grandma is doing pretty good considering all things.

Thanks for finding out about the electrical for me. I will start planning the food end.
Will we be able to use tables from your church or do you know at this point? If not lets start checking with rental places while we have time.

I would rather be busy at work than bored.

We have Marans (blue splash, golden salmon and cuckoo) really don't want any but the cuckoo to go broody if I can help it, lol. Then I have black australorp, buff orphingtons, 1 blue andelusion (I know I spelled that wrong) and 1 RIR hen that might end up stew she is a bit of a brat. Then we have the two EE's but they aren't laying yet. Oh and just got two barred rocks but I don't expect them to go broody since we just got them home they aren't even settled in yet. My luck it will be the ones that I don't want to go broody that will, haha.

I do have a big buff orphington rooster and hen that have adopted my 6 week old red star chicks. It is funny to see them heard the chicks and then the rooster will get between the chicks and the EE's to keep them from pecking at the chicks. He thinks they are his. The hen she will cuddle up with them at night instead of on the roost with the EE's and her man. I think that pair of BO's will make great parents if she ever goes broody.

well, these girls are from poco- her ee girls, thats the third one now.... so am hunting around for wynadotte, cochin or orp eggs.... what has happened with the silkie girls is let them get a stash going, but the ee girls that doesn't seem to matter...
