***OKIES in the BYC III ***

So I am just wondering-- if I am using taptotalk with the signature turned on- does my name show up 2 times at the end of each post?
Once from taptotalk & once from BYC?
The forum works much better for me using this app, just trying to figure out the quirks.

Your name shows up in your post and as part of your signature.

Thanks I changed the settings again, I think. Just an FYI-- on taptotalk you can select how many post you want to show per page. You can select to filter & see only the threads you have participated in. Plus no ads, so wonderful!

It seems that the ads are what slow things down on here. I don't have a phone to get on here with but have read that others users have had success with the taptotalk. On my PC I've experimented with different browsers to find one that works well including IE (terrible,) Opera (just OK but still slow,) Chrome (better but still slow) and have finally settled on Safari. It's very fast at loading despite all the ads.

I know once the updates came on BYC if I clicked the back button on my mouse I would hear a dozen clicks while my pc was trying to find through the ad routing. I usually don't had that issue unless a site has lots of pop ups.

Going to try & get some rest. Think my girls have friends staying over for the weekend, Teen & tween girls are never quite, sometimes I miss the days of them being toddlers. Think it was MUCH easier!

On the profile page, there is a place where you can edit your BYC feed...take out ads, This really sped up my loading time.

Had not been on since day before yesterday...over 200 posts! I'm just now caught up.

Guy..sorry to hear about the heart attack...you take care of yourself!
Jim, Loved the beautiful pigeon photos.
Rebecca, hope life gets easier for your friends and family.
Kassaundra...Hope you are feeling better today.
Jcatblum and OklaDoodle...sounds like you are getting those gardens in shape...lots of plant seedlings and onions.
Ksane...loved your "turkeys gone bad" comment!
Okracefan...I picked up 8 cochin babies from Carl. These were some of the eggs from Iowa. Nice mix of colors. Also have some that hatched Jan 29 that are beginning to feather nicely.
Carl...thanks again for hatching the cochins for me. They sure are active! I owe you!
MJ..your little rooster will be ready whenever you want to pick him up. He is mostly black, but I see a few little white feathers on his wings. He has spunk and attitude...a real cutie. I'm getting ready to move his clutch siblings

Worked all day Thursday in the hen house and garden since returning from Florida. Can really see a difference in the chicks growth after being gone for 5 days! Will have to move them out to the barn soon to the floor pen..they are outgrowing the 6 x 2 tank! Planted 9 bundles of several varieties of onions and planted Sugar Snap peas. We prepared several beds to plant this week...carrots, beets, spinach, radish and lettuce to go in next. off to bed for now

So very true - guineas, in my opinion, aren't even as bright as turkeys - which is a pretty low standard for intelligence in poultry

awww they aren't that bad- they are the comics of the poultry world though! although my flash would hide her head behind the pool while the ducks nibbled her feathers, she didn't figure out to get out of the duck run....LOL!

Lots of cute baby chicks tonight! Thanks for the heads up on the chicks at Atwoods. I'll be sure to pass by the baby chick section now. They're just too hard to resist.

Here is a pic of all the Seramas that have hatched lately, including one that hatched today. It's the dark one in front. The bigger ones are 7 weeks old while the the youngest range in age from one week to less than 24 hrs. They grow so fast!

that is a great pic! like they are looking at the little one trying to figure him out...

Poco I am SO JEALOUS of your brabanters...they are my current wishlist chicken....well those and the cream legbar$!

I'm in for a second cup of coffee and a few baby pictures. Bird/Wire - I will probably have a few Cream Brabanters available at NEOCS in June. I'm expecting five more from Sand Hill some time in March. I want to put pairs together that aren't form the same stock. Let me know in June if you're still looking for some. Here are the baby pictures: Cream Brabanters & Buff Catalana

Quoting about Bear and his chicken warmers...

I would have to agree. And you should see him in action! Let me just say I'm glad he's on my side. :)

Saw jcatblum at the Lawton Farmers Market meeting. Didn't recognize her at first since her back was to me. I kept looking for her to walk in and there she was all the time. We chatted a bit after the meeting.

I'm inspired. Erlene and I have decided we will definitely sell at the market this summer. I'm fixing to order 150 meat birds for delivery in the middle of March, just to test the waters. Folks are telling me market customers are always asking about meat and nobody is selling any, so that's a good sign. Might pick up some turks to sell in the fall as well. Plus it is about time to stock up that egg wagon with another couple hundred birds.

It's great to hear that more people are going to be selling at the L.F.M. I go every Saturday morning when its there. It was rough during last summers drought. The people there seem like good solid people. I always enjoy it. I hope it continues to grow.
