***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Sure am glad it's Friday seems like it was a long week and had Monday off even
LL

ats about the way my week has went.

mine are bantams, good standards are too hard to find. i'm gonna try and make a BIG herd of em this year, along with old english.
I've got my pair of Bantams I got at Newcastle, such cool looking birds. It's just the 2 of them together, they act like an old married couple. Chatter constantly. The only reason I haven't hatched out the eggs is I'm too scared of getting boys and not being able to find anyone to take them or getting attached to them.

I must have missed this post of yours, Samantha. June's got awesome Seramas, I think most are all Silkied. I'd post another picture of my little boy from her that's in my avatar but I think everyone's probably tired of hearing about him and seeing him in multiple poses

Never! - more pics now!
He needs his own thread.

Ok gonna try to post a picture of the chicken condos. This is only part of them.
To the left of the picture is the feed house and then on the other side of the feed house is 3 more pens, the one to the left of the feed house goes behind it. We took 6' stockade fencine most of it was ceder fencing and burried 1 1/2 foot in the ground. Then on the back of the entire thing is sheet metal burried 2 foot down. We didn't buy any lumber. DH had some ceders cut from our property milled in Luther for .25 a board foot. So we have a million and one screws and wire fencing invested. Doors we found a retirement village throwing out old screen doors. DH took those and made wire screens, we ran out of screen doors so he made the rest from left over stockade fencing. There will be a huge flight coop off all of these as soon as we can afford the hardware cloth. We have plans for another set of these that will make pens for 5 more breeding sets. We have 10 coops, and one feed house that houses our little OEGB and our brooders for the 2-6 week old chicks. Pen 1- Blue Splash Maran pair, Pen 2- Golden Salmon 3 hens 1 rooster, Pen 3 we have 10 laying hens and 2 banty cochin roosters that are of unknown parentage, lol. Feed house, then Pen 4- this is our "big kid pen" and our BO breeding pair they have taken over parenting the older chicks and I can't bear to move them. Pen 5-Feather foot Cuckoo Marans 3 hens 1 rooster, Pen 6-Black Australorps again 3 hens 1 rooster, Pen 7- 2 Barred rock hens and 1 RIR rooster, Pen 8- non feather foot cuckoo Marans, Pen 9- 1 loan Golden Salmon Maran rooster, and pen 10 is 3 pairs of Guineas and the stupid cat that thinks she is a chicken she tries to go lay down with them but they just pounce on her, lol.

Evening,

My week ended with a stinky skunk adventure

. I hope everyone had a more pleasant Friday. I've put the traps back out, but I'm secretly hoping that they remain empty for a week or so. I'm really, really not a fan of skunk musk.

Okieridge - Nice!!!!! Your chickens are going to enjoy the new pens.

Can anyone help us guess of the parentage of this banty cochin? He almost looks like our little EE's with his little beard Kurt really likes him so trying to help him figure out what he likes about the bird.

DH used to do trapping, he was sprayed more than once. Baking soda, dawn dish soap and peroxide gets rid of the smell. Mix it together and make a paste to wash whatever got sprayed.

What a day we got LOTS done today!!! Got the "Chicken Condo's" done. Moved the Guinea pen (not that they realize it the dumb birds. They were all nested down in the dirt where their coop had been, lol. Managed to get them to the new spot with food and calling "Here kitty kitty" (yes dh taught them that). Going to leave in a few to pick up my pretty RIR rooster. We will start on the next phase as materials are found. We are recycling old fencing our neighbor tears out from his lawn care and fencing business. Plus need to find some sheet metal. We also want to add a 50' X 10' flight coop off the condos so we can free range different breeds on different days. I need to figure out how to post pictures from my phone on here. I will try later tonight.

Sheet metal? 10ft work? Come and get it..
