***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Usually my rat pictures make coffee come out her nose first thing in the morning and I get yelled at.

But she used to be that way about the NN pics I posted years ago too and now she has some of them. So by brilliant deduction my guess is that she is out rat shopping.

Your brilliant deduction needs to come with a "don't read while drinking a beverage" warning

Thanks Kass I may try that, didn't get much sleep the night before but made up for it last night LOL I was trying to get caught up on the thread and was falling asleep I only got up 3 times during the night and was able to go back to sleep each time,

I think I found the perfect tub for my plucker I may have to cut it down to make it shorter but it's the inside insert from a steam pot or kettle out of an institutional kitchen I think it's a 100gal capacity I think it will be perfect I talked to the guy that bought it in an auction and he was going to get .82 cents a pound and offered me the whole thing for that I did the math and it's over $750 bucks I could just buy the plucker for that much LOL, anyway he figured out the insert needed to come out and he could sell me that and it's just a fraction of the weight so maybe that will work, it sure would make it a lot easier to keep clean if it were stainless steel.

All these chicks everyone is getting and hatching I really need to get my bator set up and running that's the goal for the weekend the only catch is nice weather outside makes it tough to stay inside and work LOL

Before you put the plucker fingers in put a very high polish on the Aluminum. Use a cloth wheel on a drill and start with tripoli and finish it off with jeweler's rouge. If it is badly scratched first go over it with some wet-dry 300 grit sandpaper and then some 800 grit running water over it while you sand. We used to make Al. cases on our bikes look like they had been chromed.

The newest hatchling has been rejected by the foster hen I placed it with. I was afraid that might happen so was keeping a close watch. The baby thinks I am it's mother anyway. I brought it in to get photos of it and when I set it on the table, it kept running toward me and jumping on my hand. It cheeps constantly if I'm not holding it and it tries to climb up toward my voice when it hears me talking. Sooooo cute, but since I'm not a hen I'll have to make other arrangements for it. I think I'll place it in a makeshift brooder and "borrow" a couple of it's siblings to grow with.
Now, tell me, what kind of hen wouldn't love this little face?

Oh how sad! The poor precious baby. I guess he was just too much younger than the others. You can only give a mama so many fake kids before she puts her foot down and starts booting them out.
How many are hers?
I'm driving myself batty trying to figure out where to put birds since I have to separate all my Cochin boys. I can't seem to make a decision on how I want to do it as usual. We're going to put up a 25x40 fence for a yard for the bantams, it's going to be Spoc the spangled mutt boy's yard. His little Cochin bantam girls are enamoured with him.

Cathie, I can't believe you guys did all that work in such a short period of time! Dang. My husband will dig post holes if I point right to where it has to go but he's informed me he's not helping with pens. I guess I shouldn't complain though because he gives me free reign of how much I want to spend on them. And at least he bought me tools lol I'm one of those people who doesn't work well with others. I have to do things totally isolated with my earphones in listening to music. But good for you guys! You did great and I hope you're rewarded with tens of hundreds of baby chicks and guineas :)

I live in Tulsa, and I am looking for somebody local that could provide about 6 sexed, day-old australorps chicks. If not Australorps, then a breed that bears confinement well (with some free range too), lays lots of eggs and is especially friendly. I've gotten excellent Australorps and Prod. Reds in the past from Country Hatchery, and may just do that again, but was wondering if somebody local can save me the drive to Wewoka.

Coral I feel your pain! The barn still smells horrid & the skunk sprayed in there last Saturday! Thankfully DH & DD both washed clean & their clothes went through the sanitize cycle in the washer & dryer. Everyone should have a sanitize cycle it is my favorite feature on my washing machine.

NNBreeder, planting in straw bales is too expensive to experiment with this year.

Ksane, my hubby would never let me build a pen, if I try to work on most things he immediately takes over so it can be done his way. I am the one that gets to hold things in place, fetch tools, measure & make cuts when it isn't convenient for him to walk over to the saw & clean up messes. He does allow me to lay tile paint without interupting, but only if he has another project going on.

Evening,

My week ended with a stinky skunk adventure

. I hope everyone had a more pleasant Friday. I've put the traps back out, but I'm secretly hoping that they remain empty for a week or so. I'm really, really not a fan of skunk musk.

Okieridge - Nice!!!!! Your chickens are going to enjoy the new pens.

i'v had to dispose of 5 skunks in 5 days, all caught in live traps. i cover the traps with a tarp(approaching carefully). they just look at the tarp like, what is that. Make sure the tarp drapes over the sides and ends of the cage and lift the cage carefully.

The tub I'm getting is stainless I'm sure it will need a good cleaning thank you for the tip I hadn't really though about polishing it but that's a good idea, the bottom plate I have is 1/8th inch diamond plate so when I figure out how big to cut it I will try to use the leftovers to weld to the underside to make it less likely to bend or warp and will install it with the diamonds on the underside so the top will be smooth and easily polished, I think it will work out just have to make sure the tub I hope to use isn't just way too big LOL I'll know Monday for sure and if it is too big I found another option this afternoon I will just have to cut off an end of a thing that is at the salvage yard it is aluminium but already fairly smooth so I can polish it also if I get it.

if ya'll didnt see the video you need to go find it. i would have run when the young lady looked at me.

my wife pointed out that besides the "extra" metal in facial parts that dont require metal, she had fangs!
i thought at first she had a dental issue, but no, i think she had fangs!

I noticed that too, but didn't want to mention it.
