@ DutchChic I love Betsy's fuzzy birds. Can't say I'm sold yet on the showgirls, but the more I see them, the more they seem to grow on me.

I've had some showgirls in the past, but they were nowhere near the quality of the two I got today. I was very impressed. If it wasn't for their naked little necks, you'd think you were looking at nice silkies. My showgirls definitely looked...odd...something that you either liked or not....lol. They were especically cute as chicks...so ugly they were cute, in an ET sort of way!

I would definately cover the WHOLE top with wire or poultry netting of some type. Mine has wire cut and spliced to where the tree is, and the tree growing through it. The part around the tree can be loosened as the tree grows. Other wise something can climb over and in, or a hulk can dive into the opening.

Thank you for the info on the calf. Have been doing the physical therapy like you said, he does not seem to mind. Acts as if I may end up with a lap calf ! Fun times with the bottle and the calf.

Anyone know what a 50 year old woman feels like the next day after planting 6 bunches of onions ?...................................... Like I would think a 90 year old woman feels. I have sore muscles in place I forgot I even had.
Todays agenda includes planting out the cabbage, and a few other cooler weather seeds. Helping DH repait the water line that he drove a T post through yeserday while putting up some fencing around the front of the garden ( those dang chickens just love anything green coming up in the garden, have had a heck of a time keeping the younger ones out of it, even after a good wing feathe clipping there are a couple that just can't resist the garden.
Forgot about needing to plant the cherry trees, guess that needs added to the list of stuff to do toi am actualy looking foreward to going to work tomorrow so I can get some rest !

Orshlen's has got cornish cross chicks if anyone is looking for them, Atwoods has the best price on turkey poults, about $1.50 less each for them than Orshlen's or Tractor supply. But Atwoods had the tinest banty chicks that I have ever seen, they were about the size of quail chicks. Atwoods prices were also better on goslings, guine keets and ducks.
For some reason DH told me I did not need to go back to any of those stores for a while,................. can't imagine why. He just smiles and shakes his head at me and my projects.

So help me with my chicken math. Chicks don't count right, so minus 31 from the total of chickens I have ? = 28, Am I right so far ? Rooster don't count , so - 2 from 28 = 26, pullets that are not laying don't count ? So 26 - 14 = 12, how am I doing so far ? Broodies don't count, so - 4 from 12 = 8, I think I have it now, I only have 8 chickens.Does a full incubator count, or would this add a negative to chicken math ?
Hmmm, 8 chickens, looks like I need to go to a sale or auction and buy some more chickens.I better get to teaching DH chicken math !
