***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Good idea about the old privacy fence idea. I can grt some of that. A friend is going to let me have some bamboo. Pretty sure it's the invasive kind. Right now the wind is coming straight from the south. Does that ever change?

It's not a windy day 'till you step out and have to lean into it while holding on your hat. The rest are just stiff breezes.

And yes it will change, when the temps get up and over 100deg there will not be a breath of air anywhere. On the flip side the colder it gets the harder the wind will blow. From the NW of course.

SW and W winds are common too through the summer, usually right before a front blows through.

cathie if your buying your place , plant some leyland cypress. They are the fastest growing evergreen and make a wonderful wind break and or privacy screen. I planted some about three feet apart between us and a neighbor when we moved here 7 years ago and now they are 20-25 ft tall and a solid wall of green. Anyway Welcome to the board, what kind of birds and critters do you have or intend to have?

It was cold here this morning after that beautiful Okla weekend. We even have a chance of snow tonight!

Had two litters of bunnys born while I was gone. Small litters because they were dwarfs. Still no broodys but lots of eggs! Checked on my Sandhill order and they hadn't even opened the mail they are so overloaded! So not for sure when I will get that order.

Cowboy glad things are getting back to almost normal. It will be nice that you will be able to get out and visit and get your mind off things for awhile.

I have one of Lowe's cheaper metal sheds. It was a pain in the ..... to put togather, it leaks on the roof ridge and is not very sturdy, eneded up bolting it down on a heavy frame and put a wood floor in it, black tar to fix the leak, so ended up spending another $75.00 or so for the floor and frame to bolt it down to.

Good Morning OKies~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Morning! The seeds I started indoors are sprouting nicely. I hope we don't have any weird weather surprises when it's time to move the little guys outside. I started some tomatoes in empty plastic yogurt cups, and DH squinched up his nose and said, "Too much fiber." I'm not sure if he was talking about the potting soil or the tomatoes.

The weather cannel predicts mid 60s here today. Sounds like a perfect day to move some more babies out to the barn brooders.

CathieSue - If you get a bunch of bamboo and discover you have a lot of extra runners in June, bring some to NEOCS. I'd love to have some, and there may be others who would like bamboo for natural wind blocks. Find out the variety you're getting and see if it's one of the edible plants. Young bamboo shoots are delicious, but you need the correct variety. My brother hated when Mom added bamboo shoots to stir fry (when we were little). He'd say, "Ever eat a lawn chair? Some parts are edible." He was a big fan of Euell Gibbons.

I too want bamboo & have been on the hunt for the clumping variety. DH would kick me off the farm if I planted the regular kind. He already started kicking & screaming about the clumping & I had to sell it hard! When we lived in town several of the neighbors yards had been plagued by bamboo, after seeing what it does he hates it as bad as the orange trumpet vine we spent 10 yrs trying to kill. Ordering bamboo online is very pricey but then I would know for sure what I am getting (if they specialize in bamboo they should mail me the correct kind right???).

Yesterday all the brooders got moved-- 4 of them stacked nicely inside the small room in the barn. I didn't want them stacked, just to be easier to access them--- but DH didn't want to give up anymore space for chicks. More eggs are going on lock down today. This wk we are putting several days worth of eggs in the fridge then doing a big Easter hatch. After that I hope we will have moved on to hatching guinea eggs. My darn girls are still not laying! But there hormones are in full swing. The past wk I can hardly get them in their pen at night since they are chasing each other so badly!

Anyone needing more garden supplies atwoods has seeds 40% off again this week & jiffy starting supplies 20% off-- Tuesday is 10% off for seniors (I think).
