***OKIES in the BYC III ***

My chickens came from Meyers, they are EE's though not broilers. They were very friendly to deal w/ good customer service, and when my chicks arived they were very healthy, no deformities at all (feet or beaks or anything else) one died in the mail but they sent more then I ordered and if I remember correctly one may have died within a day or so of arrival. All the rest thrived. I ordered 25 sexed female and got one male.

OMGosh were those your tiny babies we were drooling over???? Jack (my 7 year old) went with us last night to drop eggs off and Carl let us look through the glass window at the babies hatching. Those little bitties were soooooooo cute!!!! And boy could they make some noise! LOL I can't wait to pick our babies up tonight as well. I am praying for at least 6 but we will see what hatches today, lol.

What time are you going? I need to call Carl or Stephanie to arrange a time to pick up the babies.

just wondering where to get a necropsy done? Lost spice, and really am hoping to find out what is going on-

My vet in Shawnee is an avian vet. He did the eye surgery on Popeye.

Not sure just told Carl to give us a shout when he was ready for us to pick up the little darlings. Hubby will be here in Shawnee at 1 or 2 but figures it will be more like 6 or 7 when he goes to pick them up. Let me know what time your going maybe we can arrange the same time. I LOVE the set up he has for hatching. Hubby can't wait to be able to build an incubator now, lol.

My three bigger chickens that I got from Lisa yesterday are gone. Two are nowhere to be found. One was on the ground picked pretty clean. I thought I saw a hawk in the area yesterday and should have been more careful. Tonight we are putting chicken wire over the top of the chicken pen. This is a big blow to me. If I have this much trouble in town, what am I going to do if I move to the country? One of the bigger chickens were in the small coop and the rooster was in the big one. My other hen was in the small space under the coop hiding. If I keep losing chickens I may give this up. I feel like I'm starting over all the time.

I could be wrong but if it happened at night it wasn't a hawk. How big is your pin? When you say picked clean, that sounds more like a possom or something.

Before you give up, make your pen as strong as possible, this will make it less likely to loose birds.
