For those of you that havent noticed the patern here, I LIKE BLUE CHICKENS

The other odd part is it was found on the patio NOT in the pen. Unless it got loose from the pen somehow something got it and killed it.

How early this morning??? Any chance you could of had a dog or other critter. I don't see a hawk picking the bird clean.

Army wife sorry you lost a bird to a predator. It could have even been a neighborhood cat. It is hard to keep your birds 100% safe. We have only ever lost a few to predators. First couple times it really upset me. I know it is much harder if you loose a bird when you only has a few! Sorry.

Coral you are more than welcome to the yogurt recipe book. I use to make yogurt all the time & stopped once our source for raw milk went out of business. I also want to get you the doll clothes patterns I have. I don't for see me girls ever doing anything with the patterns & I hope I am many yrs away from needing to make doll clothes for any grandkids. Do you plan on making poops?
Buster- yes I was approved for the plasticulture grant. Anyone who has acreage & enjoys to garden should apply. I am excited about the opportunity.
The 30 mph wind got the best of my day! They tried to lay the plastic mulch & anywhere the ground wasn't smooth air would get under the plastic. The first row came up in less than an hour! Hoping tomorrows rain compacts the garden spot a little then we will level it out & try again. Might be a long weekend on the tractor.

Think dinner is leftovers. Been a long day & DH is staying in town. Kids are much happier finding their own dinner in the fridge, some how they never find any veggies on leftover night.

My three bigger chickens that I got from Lisa yesterday are gone. Two are nowhere to be found. One was on the ground picked pretty clean. I thought I saw a hawk in the area yesterday and should have been more careful. Tonight we are putting chicken wire over the top of the chicken pen. This is a big blow to me. If I have this much trouble in town, what am I going to do if I move to the country? One of the bigger chickens were in the small coop and the rooster was in the big one. My other hen was in the small space under the coop hiding. If I keep losing chickens I may give this up. I feel like I'm starting over all the time.

Sorry, I hope closing off the top solves the problem. That is what I'm really worried about when I move my new ones outside.

This blue NN has a much smaller comb then the next one, is it really a different comb type or is this one female? He/she is beautiful.

Great looks like my crested duck is a Pekin...... He is almost double the size of the ducklings hatched the same day..... hmph.....
