***OKIES in the BYC III ***

I think the only way to keep the peafowl quiet would be to relocate them to the country during mating season. Except for a few weeks in the Spring and again in early Fall, my peafowl aren't very noisy. During those few weeks however, they are very vocal.

I rescue noisy birds.

The louder, the better.

So when they get to noisy, just let me know where to come pick them up.

I have been trying in vain to order some squash seeds called zucchino Ranpicanti, or trombocino, or vining zucchini. I should have already done it, but am behind already. They seem to be out of stock everywhere does anyone on here have any extras of these seeds?

why do you want squashed seeds kass? do they grow better than unsquashed seeds?

I have a little gauge we bought @ the pet store in the reptile section. I think if we fill the water tray full it only last about 3 days. When I hatched in the Eco I put a wet washcloth or sponge on the bottom & it would keep the humidity well. Only time I ever had to adjust the temp on the Eco is when I took it to school for the class to use. Think the air was blowing on it & made the temp fluctuate. If you order the incubator you are going to use to learn to part with some chicks! But if you set them & know you are hatching for a certain person or to only keep a certain color it makes it easier!
You will love the Eco!
Part with chicks? Oh heck, no problem

I should re-think this, huh?

Sorry Kass I only grow bush type squash. Try seeds savers.org or put a request on gardenweb. I am sure you will fin some! I had to order some tomatoes seedlings from a local grower since I couldn't find any seeds for 2 different tomatoes I wanted, I pick up the plants saturday. Sad part is now I can't remember what type of tomatoes I ordered from him!!!!

Hello Okies, Well like everyone else I am just about to float away here! It is great to finally get all this rain. Thanks to help from some fellow okies my lonely bator is full and happy!
Went to the Perkins auction Sat and sold a few birds, bought a few more but did wind up with money in the end. My 13yr old son decided he wanted to go with us to the auction (Big Big surprise there!). He has now caught the auction AND the chicken bug. He has laid claim to the Belgian d'Anvers that Bill sent for the bator and now tells me he wants Polish! Great, now where I am going to find those?!

My MIL went with us and bought some Ameracauna chicks and some hatching eggs. The eggs they were showing were a barnyard mix of all different colors. Well when we got home and she opened them they were all HUGE brown eggs. Wonder what will hatch from those, any ideas?
I have loved reading all the posts and have finally got all caught up. Now I know I can go clean the house and come back to 4 or 5 more pages.

These are only 2 weeks old. The two on the left are Wyandotte/Cochin and the black one on the right is an Aussie/Cochin. The others are Wyandotte and the one with the red comb is a RoseComb roo...there is a pullet in the mix on the right.

Never made it to Atwoods today, my entire trip got postponed. Besides, can only handle 1 or 2 new chicks right now. I guess I have to get my addiction built up, huh... In the meantime I put a small stuffed bear and a mirror in there and he's much calmer, and is snuggling with the bear. Cute! Thanks for the suggestion.

Mine is almost full I figure it will be overflowing before morning if this keeps up, It hasn't been this full in years I'm really glad for this much rain but it's put a stop on me hauling the gym flooring for a while, This is barn with 3 trailer loads of the flooring, Still have at least 2 more loads yet to load and unload....

What beautiful wood!

I am Sjarvis... Im just signed in under my husband's name.

Nanakat is right, we sold all of our large fowl. Nanakat also has my rooster and a few girls but dont know if the girls are laying yet.

Oh! I'm still getting to know who's who in the zoo around here. Sorry bout that! Thanks so much for answering, even if I struck out. Am checking with some neighbors for chicks now, I guess flavor doesn't matter in a backyard flock, I'm in it for the eggs and more recently the entertainment!
