***OKIES in the BYC III ***

brought the silkies in for the nite, bad weather and no shelter, so its normal procedure- ask hubby to move the cage for them and hear a crash- turn around and he tripped hurting his foot, but what i see is flo in a heap on the floor, pretty limp, not sure if he dropped something that hit her or what- i was sure ...her neck was broken, well, after some holding and feeling over, can't find anything broken, but she won't stand on her own, did get some vitamin water into her with electrolytes, she is sleeping with her head tucked on her shoulder- won't open her eyes but is responsive- and her chickelet, toots is with her, is there anything else i can do or should look for? i am holding her and trying to electrolyte into her, she is having tremors- i assume she has a head injury...

I am so sorry to hear about flo. I don't have any advice, but hope she will come around.

All but one of my duck eggs looks like it's developing!!!

I couldn't tell on the cornish..... either none of them are developing or the shell is just too dark for me to tell. I thought I could see a hint of vessel on one, but that's probably not a good sign, only one of a dozen. So I'm going to go with I'm too new to this to tell

Ah ha! I take that back I just went and candled a store bought egg! Now that I have a frame of reference I think all the eggs I candled are growing! I didn't do all the chicken eggs cause I was feeling bummed not seeing veins, but I will in a few days, I'm so excited!!

Here is a pic of a few round eggs one of my girls has been laying the past 2 wks. The upper right is a regular egg. The other 3 are round eggs we have gathered since Friday.

It has been raining hard & steady since I woke up & I'm sure most of the night. Can't see my garden to see if everything's still there.....sure hope I didn't do all that work for it to wash away!

Hope everyone has a great day & wear your boots!

Morning sooner ;)

Morning all, trying to get caught up before I have to go feed and water feather babies. As much as I like this rain I hope it stops sometime today. This is my last day off of my 5 days off. So I really need to get some things done outside. I was planning on having 3 of the mobil chicken tractors done by tonight but with the rain yesterday now my plans are to finish the one we started.

Robin sorry about your Flo and hubby.

Nana sorry about your hen, we lost a cuckoo maran hen just like that a few weeks ago. She had been laying the biggest and prettiest eggs the 2 weeks before, sometimes 2 a day. Then hubby went out to feed one morning and she was laying in her nesting box like she had just fallen asleep.

Hope everyone has great days, rain or not.
