Glad you made it home safely in the rain!!! Thank you for calling me to head me off. I'll see you tomorrow on picking up the babies.

Since we were in Shawnee to pick up the truck at the shop when you called, we went by Lowes for a door for the new hen house...and got caught in the rain in town...temps drops from 71 to 56 in a matter of minutes. Got home in time to battan down the hatches and run check a cow that was calving. She and the calf are doing fine. We made it back to the house just before the rain hit.

yep the good oll wally world LOL i use them every year and they allways work great they even have a cover to hold the moisture wille they sprout then when the plants are ready to plant or tranceplant to a biger pot all you have to do is move the the plant and peat pellet and plant the hole thing is as easy as pie three years ago i started 5,000 plants and was selling them but i was so so bussy with work and the farm and after 2 mounth of staying up till passed midnight getting everones orders ready and plants tranceplanted i relized that is was just to much for even this young man LOL and even though i did verry well with selling the started plants my first love is my birds so for now i will keep my green thumb for myself

Glad we didn't head out that way tonight, thanks for the heads up on the weather. At work we can't watch the regular channels on tv so I had no idea other than I could see it storming north of us on my way home. Can't wait to see the chicks but glad we didn't get out in this. We got hail to the point of pulling the gutters away from the house they were so full of slush!

Haven't seen the hail as of yet anyway.. We all enjoy the birds and young chicks, but I still prefer knowing that all of you are safe and the birds will be fine till weather allows for safe travel.

Deanne, those tiny tiny Serama babies are adorable!!! If they didn't have to be inside in the winter I'd be begging you for a couple of the little girls for Channing. But I've got 2 Doves and Channing inside in the winter as it is.
My Bantam Faverolles babies are 3 wks old today. Hopefully I'll get the Ameraucana and Dark Brahmas picked up from Carl soon. I don't even know how many hatched.

I know that a lot of folks keep their Serama's indoors, but in all honesty, they don't have to be. All of my Serama babies go outside and are acclimated to the outdoors. That's really all it takes - getting them used to the outdoor temperature fluctuations. It's no different than any large fowl or other bantam chicken. I know you need some Serama's, and I just happen to be overflowing in them.

Carl, thank you!! I tell ya-I think I'm happier about the LF Fav baby that came from my own Faverolles that I am the "expensive" ones I had shipped in ))))) I can't believe one of my very own Fav eggs from here hatched-wow. I did order the small 10 egg Brinsea, had to get the manual turn because they were out of the advanced one that turns for you (Thank you for buying my other one, Laura!). I've got 3 LF Fav eggs saved up so far and will keep trying for them. At least lots of people seem to like Favs so I should be able to place boys easy enough. I do want an LF boy that I raised myself though also.
This is great, 5 each of the other 2 breeds is just fine. I was sweating it if all 2 dozen hatched, I didn't want to raise that many at once.

Evening to all my Okie friends! Boy sounds like some of you have really been hit with some major rain! Its due in here tomorrow afternoon but not forcast to be as bad as what you all got ,yet!lol I have enjoyed a couple of really beautiful almost summer days. Got the rest of the garden turned over,transplanted several prennials,mowed,weedeated. Today I moved all the birds(parakeets,finches) out to the shed. Now hope just hope winter doesn't make a come back! I have four baby parakeets but so far the finches haven't done anything. I gave them a huge cage so maybe they will now. Also set up the gerbils and hampsters out there too. Already had the g.pigs and baby chicks in there. Its looking like a pet shop!lol. Still only have one hen setting.
Rabbits are doing good. My big flemish doe is or was due last night,I think she is waiting for the weather change. One dwarf has four dwarf/lionheads,and another dwarf has two that are pure dwarf. They are so cute with their tiny ears.
The new pigeon flock is busy mateing up and starting nest. They had all been confined to kit boxes for flying and were separated by sex so they have been busy picking out new mates. There are just to many for me to try and pick and match pairs.

sorry about your flooding. I picked up a couple of chicken nick knats for the june meet. Hope to have some more by then.

NaNa sounds like your busy a a beaver,what with chicks,gardening and calving. Don't wear yourself out to much!

Kass have you tried sowing your tomatoes in the garden. I did some last year,they seem to know when it was safe to come up and after I transplanted them them caught up with the bought plants and did just as well. They were a lot easier than I thought they would be and didn't set me behind much at all.

We got 4 and 2/10 inches, not counting what we just got tonight.
