***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Also learn that you can get the stuff that like embooming fluid at Sallly Beauty Supplies. It use in giving perms and it a tablet but it called something different. It the same stuff they put on new carpet that starts with a F and has hide in the word. Drawing a blank on what it called right now.
They say to use it outside and it will kill any bad germs in your bator and hatcher. Just remember to raise it out good after using. I just clean mine with that cleaner I got from Gerald. But thought I try it. I also have AC in the room with it so that problem handled which I am sure was my problem last year.

That would be Phormaldahide and it is a good sanitizer so long as nothing is in there and will not be for at least one week, you place a rag covered in it in the top and bottom as well as spray the unit down then turn it on. The problem with this methid is that you then have to clean the unit out once the product is used. I would stick with Oxine or Tektrol. Oxine is my choice and is FDA approved product for eating eggs too. You can spray the eggs before setting, to kill bacteria on them to prevent infiltration into the egg which will kill many embryo's.
Here is how I like to do this.
Spray the egg and allow to dry (never wipe the egg)
Spray the tray and egg holders they are going into, then set the eggs.
lightly spray the walls, fan blades, and other compenents in teh incubator. The hunidity will disapate in an hour and will not harm any eggs or embryo's.

I do this with every setting of eggs, and it works for me.

I will want to work outside but there is just no way with the amount of rain we got. I will have to make time for the chickens.

coral- love those babies!! they are so darn cute! just DE'd the runs, that should help some- hey is it possible for a roo to get layngitis? Captain is crowing a third a crow...???

I've been doing some heavy thinking about what birds I want to keep and how I want to do things. I'm in the middle of planning how to arrange birds and pens & I've decided to place my Royal Palm tom turkey, he's 9 months old. He's a cool bird and I've had no problems with him. I've got 2 turkey hens that he lives with but at this point I plan on keeping the 2 girls unless someone wants them really bad.
I'm also going to place my 2 Splash LF Cochin boys. Rebecca said she wants one, I'm hoping she can meet me somewhere this weekend. I don't want to hold onto them for another few months until POOPS or I won't be able to finish pens in the meantime.
I'll post pics here in a few.

Here's the turkey's picture and the Splash Cochin. I'd like to find a place for them without it being a long drawn out affair where I have to hold onto them for weeks or months. If I'm going to place them I want to just do it and be done with it.

Good Morning everyone! Thanks for posting the information on POOPS, I will post it once I get to work. I should be able to take T Shirt orders on Monday.

Pretty happy today is Friday & it isn't suppose to rain!!

Kassaundra~ I got my seeds in the mail!! I got red okra from you! I am excited to try it.

Good, I'm so glad you got some of the okra. I didn't get any of your seeds. I can't wait to try the burgandy okra this year too, I was excited when I found the seeds I got extra just to use in the swap.

It's been a while back but I heard someone asking Michael for a royal palm Tom. I know there will be someone seeking him as a mate. Why is it so hard to have enough pen space??? I have a pen shortage since DD has groups of birds separated for hatching & we also are using pens for growing out chicks too. Come fall I should have 4 or 5 empty pens again-- unless we get even more birds between now & then!
I am sure you will get someone to quickly take the Cochin roo. Everyone seems to be after LF Cochins. He is a PRETTY roo!!! I think Rebecca needs them both! Everyone needs a back up roo remember?

I think that is the hardest part- i know the breeds i want to specialize in, but i also have some that aren't in that category....i am thinking i'll do some downsizing in june, to make room for the cochins and favs...
