***OKIES in the BYC III ***

I am wanting some rose comb RIR & maybe some more hertiage RIR, of course I would also like some Langshan & some dorkings.... If I look at the page a while longer I am sure that I can find a few other things I NEED. Rose comb RIR are sold out until July, but I do want some...... Do you have enough housing for all those birds? I have a few cattle pannel style coops that will be empty after I process my roos. Hope to process them this weekend. I will have my sisters kids, so may not be able to process with the extra helpers running around.

Nana--- did you see that I was bringing 2 decorative tiles for raffle? Maybe more, but my cutting program & I are not on speaking terms at the moment.

If you order we would like a heritage RIR rooster or two. Maybe even a few RIR hens. But their Marans are sooooo tempting, lol.

I'm in for a drink break. It's hot out there. I hope the babies I put in an outdoor pen today will enjoy the extra space. The first thing they did, one after the next, was fly the length of the pen. I think these little guys were stunt pilots in another life. I'm disappointed that so many in this group don't have a full crest and beard. Some have Mohawks, and others have razor tops, and only two have large crests.

wow, those are pretty birds.

Kass - nice flowers!

Who mentioned the stripes on the bolts for our auger? It doesn't have lines, it has initials. HTK, or something like that.

Opened the barn this afternoon, the roosters looked at me like I was crazy. The poults were happy to venture out as were the guineas, tho no one travelled all that far from the barn. At dusk I went to shut everyone in to find the guineas hiding under a cedar tree beside the barn. Got 4 into the barn, then spent 30 minutes chasing the other one. She eventually flitted up into the old barn that's falling apart. As far as I'm concerned if she gets eaten she deserves it

Don't EVER pick up a blister beetle! One flew into the house a bit ago and was very annoying flying around the lamp. I caught it and does it ever hurt!

Ag Dept. NPIP tester is coming tomorrow. Fortunately, we only have to test half my flock now--still around 50 birds. Next year, we'll only have to test 1/4.

I am setting four dozen turkey eggs Friday and 4 dozen quail eggs. I am looking for a few Red Bourbon hens and Self blue Hens. Anyone got any?
Would like some eggs, Red Bourbon,Blue Slate and New Holland White.

Glad to see you, Kathryn. Hope you have an explosion of good luck with your heritage turkeys this year.
Who did you find to process them for you? I keep asking the D.A.R.P folks in Tahlequah if they are set up to process turkeys and as of December, they were not yet able to do turkeys.

I am glad you mentioned that the Ensign auction will be in Prague, April 27 and 28. After the email I got from them in February, which indicated they would no longer have alternative livestock auctions in Prague because those were moving to the Sycamore Springs Ranch in Locust Grove, I would not have checked their website and wouldn't have known Prague is still an opportunity for all kinds of critters..

PocoPollo - Cute Brabanters! From what I've read about them, good "type" is hard to find because of their rarity. I'd love to have some myself. Yours are just darling as far as cuteness goes.

These are eggs that I keep finding in the girls' nest. One particular hen is laying these. I know that according to poultry experts, hens are only able to lay one egg a day, I SWEAR that she layed two - a regular egg and a little one, three days in a row. Here they are. These small, abnormal eggs have a very hard outer shell. I haven't cracked one open to see, but I suspect they don't have a yolk.

What's a blister beetle? I need a pic so I'll know to avoid it :)

Why haven't you cracked it open yet? I'm dying to know what's in there!
