***OKIES in the BYC III ***

A quick gardening question. I tried to direct sow some baker creek tomatoes, the ones I talked about before from the deserts of Iraq. Anyway the direct sow seedlings are struggling and only a few even came up so here's the question. Should I direct sow again, or should I just buy started tomatoes and try those again next year? I have other tomatoes in and doing well, but was really wanting to test these tomatoes for OK summers, just wasn't sure I'd have the time if I direct sowed again. It is a determinate tomato, but I don't know the day number (days to harvest)

Oh I forgot the name of the tomato is abu rawan

One more thing found another site that says its a midseason maturity tomato

I couldn't find the kittens that have white socks, but the rest are photographed. I can't be positive about gender. I photographed the necessary parts, so maybe someone on the thread can identify boys and girls.

Momma cat for this one is all white. I'm going to guess and say our Thomas is not the daddy. Thomas is gray striped. There is a black and white cat about two miles north of us. I bet he's the father.

My thought is to try again if you have - or want - to spare the space, but just a few since you're not sure that they're going to make it here. Are you starting them indoors? That might be the way to go just to give them a good start, then transplant them when they're bigger.

Edited to say, if it was me, I'd plant some others, too, just in case.

I am pathologically bad at starting seeds inside. I attempted 3 times this year and have zero plants to show for my efforts!!!!! Everything I direct sowed outside is looking good except the tomatoes, but I wasn't sure if I was just pushing it time wise either way in expecting the tomatoes to be up and great now (or if it is to early for that) or pushing it time wise now to start direct sowing tomato seeds that they wouldn't have time to make a good plant before summer hit, but since these are supose to thrive in the heat of Iraq maybe that's not such an issue??????

This is an all black kitten with the exception of a tiny white spot on its left jaw. It's part of the litter being shared by the all white cat and the long-haired calico. I think this one is a boy, but I can't guarantee it. Maybe in a week the differences will be obvious.

This next kitten comes from a litter with a short-haired calico mom. Thomas has gray stripes, so he's the daddy for this one. The white cat in the photo is not the mother: she's just concerned that I'm keeping this baby away from its mother too long.

This is a dark, dark gray kitten. It was lighter when it was born. Maybe it will appear to be black when it is an adult. It has a white spot on its chin and another on its tummy.

The gray tabby in the last picture *is a boy. The others I can't tell, they're too blurry although I'd guess the black was male. With males there's a bigger space between the 2 'orfices'. With females the 2 holes are close together. Laura, were you wanting a solid black male instead of a male with white on his face? If you'd rather have Poco's black one instead of the one here I'm not going to be offended, Pick the one you want the most.
Edit-Poco, check on that black one to see if it's female. I can't tell from the picutre. Laura was wanting a black female I think.

I'm gonna vote the grey and white are girls and the two black and orange are boys, but it's hard to tell from pics. Since everyone is telling me they've never had problems with chickens and cats, you bring those to poops I can probably take a couple of them off your hands. I know we have rodents out there, haven't seen any, but I've seen a few indicators they probably are, but it's hard to tell since we had mice in our garage at the last place so not sure if the damage and droppings are new or old.

Everybody be careful this weekend! It sounds like it's going to be a rough couple of nights.
