***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Birdwalkfarm's husband said they have a strong homing sense. If you gave him to me he might lead my whole flock to your house :p
This one obviously doesn't have a homing instinct because he came to my house and wouldn't leave. My 12 yr old Guinea is the odd man out because this young whipper-snapper took his girl, can't have that.
If you don't want him I'm going to put an ad on CraigsList tomorrow. He's a really pretty purple color, I'm sure someone will want him lol!

Me and Gary England are going to come to blows if I missed the chicken auction for nothing.
I was supposed to pick up some Ameraucana eggs from someone and was looking forward to those. I ended up setting 24 eggs in the Eco 20, some LF Cochin/EE eggs because I'm just loving the beards, feathered legs and big bodies. I only set 4 Fav eggs. From the hen I got from Mike D last year and the Fav boy I love so much. This hen I got from Mike D is colored really good and nice and stocky. I only set her eggs, she's my girl.
Well, no rain here yet. No nothing. This Brinsea incubator ran for 24 hrs since I got it. It holds the temp perfect. I love these Brinseas, they feel solid. I'll probably hang onto the 10-egg one, too. I'd hate to have an egg emergency and no incubator to put it in.
Here's one of the 6 Ameraucanas I've got here. I love the eyes. And here's the egg parents I set eggs from hoping to get beards and feathered legs. Rebecca has eggs from the Blue/Black group due to hatch right about now, I can't wait to see what her babies look like. This could get interesting. I'm anxious to see what the Cochin/Orloff looks like. The 2 older Orloffs are the big ones and those are the eggs I set from.
Kass, good idea on learning to caponize. Maybe I should try raising one of the meat breeds (that would die early anyway) and see if taking them in for processing is something I could do. Surely someplace around here does that. Just a thought. Because I love hatching and I love the babies. And seriously-it's not like people are in the market for PET roosters. I'm just trying to be realistic.

That Blue rooster sure has good color. The Blues are supposed to have very dark, almost Black heads and hackles.

MJ, I used to always think he was some strange shaded color until you told me they're supposed to be like that awhile back lol Here I thought I had a special colored rooster :-D
That little black Ameraucana is one from Jack. I was disappointed not to get those eggs from him. Does he have chicks now? I'd just as soon buy 3 chicks from him if he'd do that.

New update jamie doing good sore lily was taking off oxygen. But still has feeding tube
So happy to hear this news!!! Will continue to keep T & Ps flowing your way!

Oceanwave...ask little hands where the camera went...when my daughter was two, she got my keys. When I couldn't find them the next morning I said "Sarah, where are Mommie's keys?"
Her response, "Keys!" and she toddled over to the kitchen cabinet and pulled out the covered cheese dish...she had put the keys there. I would have never found them.

Weather should be moving in to our area between 5 and 7 am....sheesh!
Helped daughter and SIL move into their beautiful new home in Edmond today. Helped get the kitchen unpacked so she could navigate.

Jamie is home but had to leave baby lily.I also wanted. To let everyone know Newcastle auction will start 5pm.from now on.the big poultry will start no later then 7pm!!!!! So please pass the word.I think this will help everyone in the longrun.

We just moved some of jacks chicks from the hatcher to the brooder tonight. A few are still hatching.
I think Jack sets eggs every week so getting chicks shouldnt be a problem Mitzi.
My buckeyes hatched as well. I will have to post pics of the buckeyes tomorrow, There are 3 different colors. It is my first buckeye hatch, but I am thinking something is off. I expected them to all look like my heritage RIR. Some look like production RIR & others have stripes like EE!! ETA reading a quick article on buckeyes here on BYC says they do come in all 3 color variations when they hatch. That is odd to me since the adults all look the same!

When we got home the German Shephard had returned with our Pyrenees. As soon as we pulled up she went to the porch since she was ready to go inside. She is seriously a spoiled dog.

Next Saturday they will have the porter hill auction again. We plan on going to Newcastle but I am curious to see if the auction goes better.

Sending out prayers for Lily. Do they have a guess how long she will be staying? Hope she is home soon!

It's hard to go home without a baby. I know because I had to do that with two of mine. But know that the NICU nurses are wonderful, caring folks who will take good care of Lily while you're not able to be with her. Prayers out to you and your family, and for Lily's quick healing. I hope she gets to go home very soon.

I was wondering about that. I got a flyer from them saying they were doing an auction of household goods this month. I was tempted, but I;m trying to DE clutter not clutter. lol
